Soon my phone is ringing again, and it says, MOM.
“Let me answer it, just in case,” Zac says. I hand him my phone,
“Hello,” Zac says firmly. [Pause. He smiles.] “Hi Joan, I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t Nathan, I’ll get you, Lauren.”
Me: Hello!
Mom: Lauren. It’s good to hear your voice. Are you okay?
Me: Yeah, I’m good. Sorry about today. I know it was probably a mess because of me.
Mom: Don’t be sorry. You deserve to be happy, and Boy have you been happy today [she chuckles.]
Me: [I chuckle, and rub my red cheeks] Get it out. Say what you want to say.
Mom: All joking aside, he’s your mate, and you two have been living together and holding out. You two were both probably losing your mind before today.
Me: You have no idea.
