Chapter 8 Surprise, Surprise

2320 Words
Louise's POV I am lost in thought until I hear a gasp from beside me as I glance over to see May looking distraught. "What's wrong May?" I inquire as she shakes her head before squeaking out. "That's Steven." I follow her line of sight as I see a man walking into the room with a woman wrapped around his torso as his arm holds her closer into his side. He looks lost in her eyes as they talk about who-knows-what. Before I can say anything in response, she is storming over there without hesitation. I get worried for her because I have seen that angry look in her eyes before. This could lead to something bad. So I crossed the room as well, with me right on her heels so she won't have to do this alone. I watched as she instantly shoved his chest while the men around, who looked familiar to me, but I can't place from where, stared in shock and awe at her actions. This man, she calls Steven, nonchalantly looks down at her with this smug look on his face, as if he is somehow better than her. Instantly I find myself fighting the urge of wanting to slap that smug look right off of his face. He had better tread lightly because I feel my hand tightening into a fist and on the edge of aggravation anyways. I glare daggers at this man who is already disrespecting my sister, almost wishing for him to do something more so I can take this frustration out on him. "What do you want? I thought you weren't coming out tonight because you're a lame drag that doesn't have a penny to her name." He asks causing her to gasp in shock as his friends and the girl wrapped around him smile. Huffing out is what she can muster before she squeaks out. "I thought you weren't coming out either, because you would miss me too much. But said you might have a drink since the gang is insisting. So who is she? She is not a part of the gang." She responds in a wavering tone that sounds as if she might cry at any moment. I watch as he shakes his head before laughing, then looking around at the people surrounding him, getting them to laugh as well. "Why do you care about what I am doing? It's not like we were ever together. I never wanted you for more than a fun night. Besides, you have never been part of our gang either. You were just the girl we passed around for sh*ts and giggles. I can't believe you believed anything I told you. I wasn't ever going to just stay inside, especially when a fox like Barbera is around to dance with and have as mine." he declares, holding the girl closer to him as she laughs while chewing her bubble gum before she instantly blows a bubble then popping it with her tongue. "Besides, why would I waste any more time with a floosey like you. May, you're no fun at all. Besides, What did you think would happen after you opened your legs to me? That I would marry ya or something. Why? I already got what you willingly gave up like some sort of trollop." He declares with disgust before blowing the smoke from his cigarette out at her. I watch the smoke blanket her face as I see the heartbreak in her eyes. Before I even know what I am doing, my fist is colliding with his prominent cheek bone. This sends him stumbling back in shock as this seems to surprise everyone around as I grab May by the arm saying over my shoulder. "Good I'm glad you won't waste anymore of her time because she is better off without ya. You're a waste of space and the biggest crumb I have ever laid eyes on. She is a catch that anyone would be lucky to have, and you will never have contact with again. Stay away, or I will give you a matching hit to the other side of your ugly face." He glares over at me as the woman who was wrapped around him tries to take care of him, but he just swipes away her hands, making sure they are not touching him at all. I pull May with me until we get to the bar and I grab her a drink. I pull her over to a table off to the side as we watched that group of awful people go to the other end of the room together, sending us glares as we do the same, sending that right back. They now have ice put to his cheek because it is starting to turn blue. Good I hope he looks at that bruise every day, remembering why he got it and maybe rethinking his actions. But I can't imagine that a horrible man like that would ever change his ways. I sit down beside May as I notice that she looks like she is about to cry. I won't let him think that he has won this. So I fix her hair and make-up before saying, "Don't cry over that waste of time and space. Don't let him see you hurt, you can cry at home where he won't see you. Ya hear me? Don't worry about him.. I promise you can get way better than him.. He is just a big crumb of a man. His fat head is noticeable even from here, and was a very easy target. But if he keeps looking over here with that dumb look on his face I will punch him again." This comment gets her chuckling for a second as I wipe away the one stray tear that left her eyes without our permission. "Don't you think on his words May.. Don't you think on it for one second.. You're better off.. You'll see." I declare as she nods then looking away from him to me. "LouLou?" I nod at her as she says, "Thank you for defending me." I wave off her statement as she continues to nod before stopping my hand with hers. "I mean it Lou.. I haven't exactly been the best sister these past few years and this just meant a lot to me.. Maybe you were right about not being with that group anymore.. Especially since I don't want to see his dumb.. Handsome face again." She says sadly before looking back in his direction. I grab her face turning it back to me. "Don't look at him, he wants you to look at him and ache for him. Don't let him win this by giving him what he wants. He is just a Fathead that doesn't know what he is missing. So you make him realize by not going back to him.. Ya hear me? Because if you go back to him, he will just use you all over again because he has shown the horrible person that he is. When someone shows you who they really are, you listen. You can't let yourself go through that ok? You will find someone better, I promise." She nods sadly at me as I let out a deep breath. I lean back feeling better now that we are away from him and the suffocating negativity that group brings. I start nodding feeling even better about the fact that she seems as if she is finally listening to me and will possibly take my advice. I suck in a sharp breath before thinking about what I want to say. I have a lot, but she needs the positivity about where things can go from here. Especially since she is probably thinking things are going to get worse now that she doesn't have them.. But that couldn't be further from the truth. I take her hand tightly into mine, gaining her attention again. "I am glad you will be getting away from that group of people, you have me and my friends that love you for the amazing person you are.. And you can lean on all of us for support.. Because none of those horrible people deserve your precious time or effort.. You deserve the people who will surround you with happiness and strength to get better in life.. I have always told you that.. And I know for a fact that the girls will do that for you because they have done that for me. So I really hope you meant it when you said that you wanted to start working with the ladies because I guarantee they will accept you with open arms, and it would be great for your self-esteem and helping distract you from all of this." I explain as she nods before chugging the rest of her drink. "I'll get you another one." I declare needing to head back to get us both another much deserved drink. I got up without hesitation, quickly making my way to the bar because I didn't want to leave my sister alone for too long, especially since she is going through something none of us ever want to experience. That rejection was something I had never seen before and made me feel even more for her in these hard times. I keep glancing back to my sister, who has her back towards me with her head hanging down as she fidgets with the empty cup in her hands. I order and wait for the drinks to be made, while watching every move the barkeep makes as he is creating the flavorful drinks for us. This is very distracting to watch, that is until my attention is grabbed when I feel a tap to the top of my shoulder. When I turned around to see it was the crumb I had just punched, probably wanting his matching set of bruises that I promised him, and believe me, I would willingly give it to someone like him. "What do you want?" I snap out at him as I turn back around to face the barkeep. "I don't get why you're coming at me with so much heat and anger just because you found out your sister is a shared crop. She is a trollop who gave it all away without question. That is not my fault.. I just wanted a good time, and she was the only one around.. Now I have someone else.. A better someone else." He declared smugly, I am assuming trying to get under my skin. As much as I would hate to admit it out loud, it's working. The talking bad about my one and only sister is making me even more livid than I imagined it would, especially when I can see that he is just trying to get under my skin and push my buttons.. So why let him? I try to push the annoyance back, no matter how hard that is. I need to try to show him that his words won't affect me like he wants them to. "That is not her fault that you tricked her into feeling special, and that doesn't make her a trollop.. Especially because you lied and gave her false hope to get what you wanted before throwing her to the curb. How about you just skidattle on over to Barbera before I give you a matching black to your blue." I declare with so much anger as I feel him grab my shoulder and flipping me around to face him again. It's as if he doesn't think I will say that to his face, but I will say it even louder to his face. I gasp in shock before I hear from the other side of me. "She asked you to skat.. Did ya not hear the lady.. Because I heard her clear as day." I look over to see this handsome man in uniform, but it is not the same uniform as the men around are wearing. "How about you stay out of this, trench monkey." Steven declares as the other man puffs out his chest, looking bigger than before. "Call me what you want, at least I have done something for my country. All that I can see you doing is taking your anger out on the ladies like scum does. Only a piece of work would take anything out on a lady." He waves his hands around with each word as if he is just asking for Steven to do something, and I love it. The antagonizing is working since I can see that Steven's face is contorting into an uglier one when I didn't think that was possible. Steven scoffs loudly trying to play what he is saying off. "Well, if I see any ladies around I will be sure to treat them nicely.. But what I see is a trollop and her disrespectful sister, who I could assume is just as big of a trollop.. Just like their mother." Steven declared with spite which seemed to be engulfing every single word that spilled from his lips. I crank my arm back to punch him again, but before I have a chance, a hand is stopping my fist from flying into his smug face. I am livid at this action as I glared back at this handsome man in uniform. He holds my hand tight, not letting it slip out as I look over to see Steven smiling at me, making me wish I was the one hitting that look right off of his face. "What are you doing, he deserves this." I retort through clenched teeth. "I know." the man says to me, and before I know it a fist is already flying past me and into Steven's face. This hit knocks him out instantly as his limp body flops to the ground.
