Gabriela stared at her foot for some time, moving it around. The swelling had gone down, the bruising was gone and so was the pain. It still felt awkward when she stepped on it, but it was more because she had been trying not to in the past two weeks rather than because there was a problem. She was lucky her injuries healed quickly — the doctor had said that other people in her situation might have needed a month to heal, but she got cleared to play — carefully! — in just two weeks.
