Gabriela unlocked the door and pushed it open, limping into the hallway to make way for the two men behind her. She kicked her shoes and dropped her bag just as her mother appeared from the kitchen wearing a knee-long black dress and an apron. Gabriela raised an eyebrow, but kept her mouth shut as her mother greeted the guests with a smile. “I’ll go change,” Gabriela mumbled, leaning on the wall as she hobbled past her mother. “Hey, what happened to your leg?” Her mother asked, turning after her. “Are you alright?” “I’m fine,” Gabriela replied without turning. “I fell.” She entered her room just as her mother invited Percival and Sebastian in the living room, where the sounds of the kid’s channel and a choir of high-pitched voices were coming from.
