“See you Monday, new captain!” Maya waved on her way out of the changing rooms. “Sayonara, old captain! We’ll always remember you!”
“I’m not dead yet, you know!” Lina shouted half-mockingly after her. The old captain stepped next to Gabriela’s locker, squeezing her shoulder. “And you, what was with your reaction? You just said ‘Okay.’ It was very anticlimactic.”
“What do you expect me to say when you drop a bomb like that on me?” Gabriela asked. “I thought you’d make Maya the captain since she has been in the team the longest and knows everybody the best! I would have picked her.”
“Well, yeah,” Lina said, leaning her back on the lockers. “Her mouth is a problem. And her temper. Besides, it was her idea to make you the captain.”
