“Congratulations!” Harper shrieked as she choked Gabriela in a bear hug. Gabriela suffered through it until the other girl pulled back and grinned. “I can’t believe you won your Sectionals! You won all of your four matches, right? How cool is that? I didn’t know the girls’ team was that good!”
“You need to work on your compliments.” Gabriela snorted, pulling her away from the door since more customers had entered the cafe and they were blocking the way. Gabriela’s shift had just ended, so she ordered a mocha for herself and a slim latte for Harper, thanking Brenda as the older woman promised to bring them over.
Harper had already found them a seat by one of the windows and was waiting impatiently, drumming with her fingers on the table. Gabriela sat in front of her, raising her eyebrows.
