Chapter Twenty-three

[Keliche Shizamme Sandoval's Point of View]

It’s Monday already and that means that I need to get back to work like nothing happened on my long weekend vacation. Alana’s still in Baguio and she hasn’t contact me yet and I’m starting to get worried. I guess, I should really call her later since it’s been days since we last saw each other.

I didn’t cook some breakfast because I’m planning to drink coffee in Café Latte because I kind of miss their Americano there. Maybe because, I’m missing Alana too. No one’s loud inside my apartment and no one’s shouting to wake me up in the morning, no one’s telling me to date Khyzrr, wait, will that walking dimple pick me up or I’ll commute starting from now on since he hasn’t texted me yet since he dropped me off here.

When I got out of my apartment since I just got promoted, I needed to be early at work. I just want to be a responsible chemist, woah, chemist that’s a very big word for me since I’m now living in a dream.

“Took you long enough, I was about knock on your door.” He said while leaning on his car, what an i***t. He loves to barge inside our apartment days ago, what’s up with him right now?

“I thought you won’t pick me up.” I answered before getting inside and being the most irritating person he is, he opened the door for me even though I can manage to do that. I just rolled my eyes when I’m already sitting on the passenger seat, I even buckled my seatbelt while waiting for him since the car won’t move by itself.

“Why would you think that? I’m always picking you up, remember?” He said before the engine of the car roared and he started driving, well, maybe he doesn’t have any load to call or text me. Okay Keliche, stop talking to yourself just because of the punk beside you.

“I just thought.” I answered the safest answer as possible but I just heard him chuckle while he’s still driving.

“Did you eat breakfast?” He asked me, I just moved my head sideways and I was shocked when he stopped the car all of a sudden. What’s up with this guy, really? He’s so insane right now!

“Why didn’t you told me earlier? Where do you want to eat?” He asked while looking at me, well, he’s glaring at me like I’ve made a very horrible mistake. The nerve of this guy!

“I just want to drink some coffee --.”

“Coffee isn’t enough because we are going to work harder now, let’s just eat in a nearby restaurant. No way in hell that I’m going to let you work with an empty stomach.” He said before he started driving again, my heart flinched a bit. Wait, what am I even feeling?

A few moments later, we arrived in a restaurant, actually it’s just few blocks away from the company building. What a scaredy-cat he is, he doesn’t want to be late on our first day as chemist too!

When we got inside, we just ordered a heavy meal and while waiting, he just pissed me off. He’s forcing my mouth to smile and he looks like an i***t. LITERALLY! Even when we got our food!

” I’m eating, stop disturbing me.” I warned him but he just laughed at me before continuing his food. I just rolled my eyes and eat in peace.

After we ate, we immediately go inside the office to report to the head chemist of the company, it’s Mr. Lorenzo. Actually, I’m a fan of his work, many says that he’s really capable of transforming a scent into a different and extraordinary scent in any way he can. And that is because he’s really devoted in creating fragrances.

“Good Morning, Mr. Alejandro and Ms. Sandoval, it’s your first day so it’ll be a little light work for you since you’re still adjusting to changes. It’s a bit shocking that you got the position but I’m a fan of your fragrances but the battle right now is we need to shine up, we need to be on top. I’ll be giving you fifteen days to work in a couple perfume for the autumn collection since we need to open by the end of the month. We shouldn’t let other companies steal our limelight right? You’ll be giving your first example later. I’ll be going.” He instructed before leaving us like that. He’s too straightforward for a human, maybe he’s a robot or something. But let’s leave it like that and we need to work immediately, I don’t want to fail them and I don’t want to fail myself too. I’ve tried to lower my standards for a bit but we need to be on top so I won’t this time, just this time.

“So, we’ll be partners right now on our first task?” Khzyrr said beside me while he’s wiggling his eyebrows, I was about to punch his chest when a girl wearing a lap gown approached us, she’s holding to lab gown that is folded neatly and there is a pin saying Alejandro and Sandoval. Wow, it felt surreal.

“Please get ready and I’ll show you your labs, I mean, every chemist here inside the laboratory has different labs. We have a rule to just mind your own business when making a fragrance but since you’re going to collaborate with each other, we made your labs close to each other. Please wear this and Ms. Sandoval, tie your hair if you can, I’ll wait for you there. Do it fast, I don’t want someone who keeps me waiting.” She said so I immediately get dressed and tied my hair with a band, I mean, she has that bossy attitude but I knew that it’s needed at work.

A few moments later, we’re already in front of a door with an Alejandro on the name plate hanging on the door. Wow. I really can’t believe this, it’s amazing!

“It’ll be your lab and Ms. Sandoval, follow me.” The girl said so I nodded and followed her, she stopped on the door beside Khyzrr’s lab and it has Sandoval written on the name plate. This feels great!

“Get to work, we have an autumn collection coming up and we shouldn’t waste our time.” She said before leaving me in front of the door. I walked towards it and slowly opened the door and I can’t believe my eyes, it’s a very spacious room and it’s a real lab! There are many apparatuses here!

“I’m a chemist, fina-f*****g-ly!” I shouted while looking at the whole lab, at my whole lab!

“Ugh, stop shouting please.” He said before entering my lab, well, he hasn’t change at all. He still loves to barge inside my property. I want to kill him in an instant!

“Leave me alone, walking dimple. I have some work to do.” I told him while pushing him out of my lab, he’s too strong but I don’t care! I gathered all my strength and pushed him outside, he’s just laughing at me!

“But we’re partners!” He shouted but I just slammed and lock the door so that he won’t get inside again without my consent. I felt so proud of myself when I pushed him out. I was about to start creating a sample when I felt my phone vibrated.

It’s a message from Alana so I immediately opened it,

[I’ll be back soon.]

My eyebrows creased, maybe they really need her there. I just want to at least talk to her but when I started calling her, her phone’s already dead and I can’t contact her. What’s happening to you, Alana? I should have been there with you. My conscience will kill me once something bad happened to you. I won’t forgive myself.

“I need to focus and do my best.” I whispered to myself, f**k, why does it have to be so hard when you’re distracted about something.
