Chapter 25: Breakfasts and Panic AttacksTom’s hands were clammy as he reached the café. Jason was right behind him, more focused on Biscuit in the car than on the people inside of the café. Monday mornings weren’t busy, but it wasn’t empty, either. Tom had hoped for empty. When he looked in through the window in the door, he noticed John standing by the closest table, wringing his hands and staring at the floor. Tom needed to let the guy out before he had a panic attack or something. He opened the door, listening to the bell chime above as he ushered Jason inside to leave a free escape route for John. “Morning, John,” Tom mumbled as he walked past, a hand still on the small of Jason’s back.
