“How could you leave me in this manner, Selene?” Mommy asked, gently holding her hand.
Selene let out a sigh. “Mom, I have to do this. I am required to complete this task for my education. I want to be better,” she responded, tears streaming down her face.
“Are you confident in your ability to interact with humans?” Mommy wanted to reassure her.
She smiles. “I can do it, Mom,” she replied.
“What about Xander?” I lower my gaze when Mom brings that up.
My sister’s boyfriend is an Alpha, and coincidentally, he is also the man I have a crush on.
“We are committed to maintaining our relationship. I have been offered and accepted the Luna position.” Selene spoke with confidence as they embraced once more.
They let go of each other and she turned her gaze towards me.
“Don’t stress, Mom, Solaine. You are being quite difficult. I wish I didn’t have to leave so that I could witness your behavior.” she spoke loudly and rolled her eyes at me.
I forced a smile onto her face.
She looks at me, head to toe and laughs. “Solaine, I’m frustrated. You are experiencing weight gain. How can someone have a mate with that weird face?” she laughs with Mom. I am astonished by their actions towards their own family.
I snickered. “Yes, I am aware. I haven’t turned 18 yet, so I suppose I don’t have to worry about it—”
“Yes, you have to,” she stated coldly.
“Now I have to leave.” Selene bid farewell to Mommy, holding her hand tightly as they walked out of our home for the final time — and Xander was waiting for her.
She embraced Xander one final time, and they shared a passionate kiss. I can tell from Xander’s eyes that he doesn’t want her to leave him.
“Will you be returning?” Xander asked.
She greets him with a broad smile. “Why should I not? Xander, I promise to return for our future together. I won’t spend too much time in that country.”
Xander’s face breaks into a smile. “I love you, Selene. I trust you and have confidence that you will fulfill my hopes.”
I continued to watch them, but then Mommy grabbed my hand and pulled me inside.
“Stop stalking your sister!” she reprimanded me.
I take a gulp. “It is not considered stalking! I would like to see her one final time. I’m sorry.”
“It seems unlikely that your sister cares about you. She doesn’t. Nobody cares about you. I cannot even acknowledge you as my daughter with that appearance. Ugh, I am feeling extremely frustrated.” I can’t help but feel tired from her words, so I just put on my headphones.
“So, this is how disrespectful you have become!?” she forcefully took my headphones and threw them, causing them to crack. Additionally, she struck me in the face. I gaze downward, struggling to hold back my tears.
“Selene, our only chance for success, is leaving to pursue her success, and yet you’re still behaving like this?” she let out a booming laugh.
Finally, tears streamed down my face. “Mom, are you truly suggesting that I lack hope for our family? Please stop acting selfish and showing a one-sided perspective. How can you accurately predict my future if your attention is primarily directed towards Selene?” I burst into tears, leaving her speechless and expressionless.
“Solaine, are you serious? Did you say that?” I gave her a disapproving glare and she approached me.
“Why? You're not the only one allowed to disrespect someone—” My words were silenced when slapped me once more.
“Now, you’re no longer my daughter. I have to disown you, Solaine. I don’t want to keep a spoiled brat like you.”
—
It has been three years. I am currently 18 years old, and Selene never contacts me. I heard that she broke up with Xander, but I don’t know the reason behind it. She abruptly cut off all communication with everyone. I did the same thing as my Mommy.
After disowning me, she passed away.
I am currently alone, and this particular day of mine does not feel significant.
I am an independent woman who has a wolf named Belly. Although I am unsure of where I can find my soulmate, I am actively searching for him. I am currently waiting for someone to rescue me from the overwhelming sadness that I am experiencing.
“Hey, mate!” I heard my wolf’s call and sensed his distinct scent. I sense his presence nearby.
I turned around quickly and was shocked to see Xander.
“You’re my mate?” I felt nervous when Xander spoke those words. His emerald eyes locked into mine, and he ran his fingers through his blond hair — I knew right away, that I was rejected.
“Yes . . . I’m not sure, to be honest. I am aware of the direction in which this is leading us.” I whispered, bracing myself for his potential rejection. I can see the blank expression on his face.
“What are you talking about?” he asks, causing me to look at him with confusion. His pretty face looks confused.
“There is no way that we are destined to be mates. You are my sister’s boyfriend–”
“Do you mean 'ex-boyfriend'?” He corrected me as he crooked a smile, and that smile caused my heart to beat faster. He approached me, getting closer.
“Unless you reject me, we cannot be together and you cannot be my Luna,” he whispered and I gulped. This isn’t what I expected to hear from him.
“What do you mean?”
He chuckled. “Your sister and I don’t have any connection anymore. We’re done, she’s not my mate, but you are,” he responded.
I gaze into his eyes. “So?”
“I, Xander Blaze Havoc, the Alpha King of the Blue Moon Pack, hereby accept you, Solaine Blake, as my mate and as the Luna of my pack.” His words have the power to ignite a fire within me.
He is driving me insane.
He was right; I should not allow myself to feel any other emotions because Selene will never return.
It takes me a moment to form a smile.
“I, Solaine Blake, accept you, Xander Blaze Havoc, as my mate.” I wholeheartedly accepted him.
He gently took hold of my hand, drawing me nearer to him, and affectionately left a mark on my neck to signify our bond as mates.
