Lyra Twenty minutes later I exited my room to find a nervous-looking Evanka hovering by the top of the large spiral staircase. My sister and I have never been close. She is a good girl and even though I will never admit it to anyone I admire her quiet manner and comforting aura. “Evanka, are you OK?” I ask her as I approached her. She quickly does a quick look around before speaking. “I am sorry about the marriage; I overheard Mama and Papa arguing last night.” She looked me in the eye for the first time since she spoke. “I offered to go instead, but Papa wouldn't have it.
