CHAPTER 7

Lyra

I have felt uneasy since the call with my Papa, Vladimir has been trying to call me, but will I f**k take that call. My pompous ass of a brother can f**k off with his ego and self-importance. My Aunt has been giving me nothing but s**t for the past two days. Leaving Nickoli on the drive to bleed out wasn't my best move, but who cares? Her husband is nothing but a wet wipe if you ask me. She speaks to him with nothing, but disrespect, and he still looks at her like she is the best thing ever. Makes me laugh when I think how quiet and timid my mother is compared to Tessa. I have felt a pull to the moody Alpha and have deliberately kept away from the bar . I have felt his wolf near; I spotted him two nights in a row at the edge of our land. What a magnificent animal so large, I was itching to run my hand through his black silky-looking fur.

Deciding to head into town for a drink and avoid the bar, I just hopped on my bike and fired it up. Nickoli gives me a look from the door but doesn't move to follow. I really should feel a bit guilty about draining him, but I don't. He looks a ghastly shade of grey as his body tries to get its strength back. No one can say I didn't warn him, I guess. Getting to the small town, I felt all eyes on me but honestly, I didn't care.

Heading into one of the wine bars my uncle owned, I noticed the bikes of Maddox and Atlas alongside an SUV that Dollar must be driving.

“Why Hello lady Lyra?” Dollar the young gamma says as he takes me in. I just roll my eyes at his playfulness.

“Dollar, Atlas.” I say with a tip of my head. Atlas looks uncomfortable as he opens the door for me.

“Lyra, good to see you, we have missed you at the bar.” is all he says before I walk through the door. His scent hit me at once and the tie to him vibrated in my soul; f**k, by trying to avoid him, I walked into him. His eyes find me, and I can't help noticing how rigid his back is as he looks at me. It's then I notice the blonde sitting across from him, who has followed his line of sight and now sits growling at me. Now your silly little mutt be careful how you greet me, I think.

“Alpha Maddox, how nice to see you again,” I say, laying on the accent as thick as possible without actually talking Russian. I watch as he swallows, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down as though his throat has just gone dry. Clearing his throat, he stands,

“Lyra, I didn't expect to see you here.” He says, glancing down at the female who is looking confused,

“Clearly Maddox.” I say, deliberately leaving out his title and glancing down at the female. “I must apologize, I am Lyra and you?” I say to the now frowning female,

“I am Una, Maddox’s future Luna.'' She says with a smug smirk. I would be lying if I said it didn't stab me in the heart her claim on him, well until he spoke,

“No, she most definitely is not my Luna and will never be!” he says as a growl as the female shrinks away from him. I can't help but smirk at her reaction, silly girl.

“Well, I shall leave you two to your date,” I say. As I go to turn, he grabs my upper arm and spins me back round, sparks rush through me from his touch. I notice his eyes go wide as he lets go quickly. I look from my arms towards him, and I see the eyes of his wolf. “What's his name?” He looks at me with anger before I correct myself, “Your wolf Maddox what is he called?” I swear he seems to relax a bit at this,

“Chaos, his name is Chaos.” He says as the blonde looks like she is about to blow a gasket. I smiled at him,

“Well Maddox please tell Chaos he is a magnificent beast.” His eyes go wide, then he smirks. The Blonde grabs Maddox by the wrist and whines,

“Maddox, I thought we were going to eat.” He snatches his arm from her as though her touch had burnt him.

“Do not touch me, and it's Alpha Maddox!” he says before turning back to me. If it wasn’t so funny I would feel sorry for her, but f**k her pathetic weak female! Alpha or not, I would never allow a man to disrespect me like that.

“Will you be at the bar later?” he says, catching me off guard with how forward he is, especially in front of this female who looks like she wants to rip my head off. Good luck little girl.

“Erm, I’m not sure why?” I say, enjoying how pissed the female is.

“I'll see you there if you are,” he says with a hint of hope in his eyes.

“I'll think about it now, enjoy your date,” I say with a wink as I turn and walk away. Bad Lyra, bad, bad, bad; I think as I walk out not even bothering to order, I just need to get away from him, or I might do something I'll regret.

“Lyra, leaving already?” Atlas says as I walk out in a daze. “She isn't anything to him, it's just to keep peace with his parents”, Atlas offers. Stopping, I spun and frowned, looking at him confused, had Maddox told him? Of course, he has. He’s his Beta.

“I never asked!” I said, but he gave me a small knowing smile. “Your Alpha's business is his own, not mine!” I said as I go to leave as he grabbed my wrist, like seriously, what the f**k is with these wolves and personal boundaries. I look down at his hand, still gripping my wrist. “Can I help you, Atlas?” I ask with a raised brow.

“Don’t give up on him please, he has a big heart and has been waiting for his fate. Do not tell him I said this, he would kill me.” He says in a low voice, as if he didn't want anyone to overhear him.

“Atlas, I have no intentions of hurting your Alpha or claiming him or anything of the sort.” I say as slowly as possible while keeping eye contact. He releases my wrist and drags his hand down his face.

“Please just think about it, Lyra, or should I start calling you Princess Lyra?” He says with a smile, thinking he’s smart.

“If you like Beta Atlas, as I see, you have been doing your homework. Do you know if you had asked, I would have told you myself, being part of the Russian Royal vampire family is something I was born into, not what I am.” And with that, I turned and walked away, not before his eyes went wide, and I heard him mutter ‘s**t!’ under his breath. Well, it looks like he did not dig as far as he could have. Getting back on my bike, I decided to go for a drive. I need to clear my head and if I stay in this human town someone is likely to lose their lives.
