Daniel finished reading the first chapter from the book of Alphas to the astonished room. I called Marie on speakerphone for her to listen, since this may have been just as much about her as it was about me.
“You know” Marie said thoughtfully, “Evie’s eyes do look purple sometimes. I’ve always thought it was some cool genetic mutation or something.”
Nate’s eyes lit up. “Her eyes… purple… then… wolf… woke up.”
Daniel was grinning around the room “You know Nate, you’re right. Doctor Carter didn’t think you’d survive your injury because he thought your wolf was too hurt to return for at least a day.
