The next few months went by in a flash. I spent my time either at school, with Josh or Marie, or at Alpha training. Daniel was tired and wanted to pass on the title of Alpha soon, but he knew that it was more important that I’m ready for the responsibility than that he get on his retirement on his own timetable. Together, we decided that my 19th birthday was a good rough estimate.
Daniel wasn’t kidding when he promised that our Alpha training would be five nights a week. A few times, he tried to ask for 6, but my parents drew the line. They said that I needed a life in order to stay sane through all the learning and training I was doing.
