Chapter 17: Magical Tournament

Coralia obviously would not sleep in the crib with Isaac for..."reasons", so Coralia slept in the bed with Isabella last night. Isaac when wakes up early this morning, and goes through his morning routine before his mother or Coralia woke up. Isaac is in middle of his meditation when he hears the sound of small footsteps walking over to the room he is meditating in. Isaac turns to stare at the door and sees Coralia poke her head into the room and smiles mischievously. A magical glow begins to appear around her throat area and a harmonic song that could calm the heart of anyone began to play from her throat. As the song progresses, Isaac begins to get more and more sleepier. Isaac is having a hard time staying awake, but using the vast amount of will power he has, he fights to stop himself from falling asleep. Before Isaac falls asleep, the music stops, and he regains clarity in his eyes. He stares at Coralia in shock.

"You can use magic Coralia"!? Isaac says in extreme shock because he assumed Coralia was defenseless due to the fact that she was chased into hiding into the pond by the wolf.

Coralia looks at him with a frown and says, "Just because the wolf was able to ambush me, doesn't make me completely useless". Coralia says then sends a distasteful glare towards Isaac.

"I never once thought of you as useless". Isaac rolls his eyes while stating that. "It's just I didn't know magical creatures could use magic like us humans". Coralia's glare disappears and is replaced by a small grin.

"Well since you saved me, I can at least explain to you about why some magical creatures can perform magic like you humans. It's not too hard a concept to understand, but when a creature reaches a certain intelligence, it can perform magic differently that it's instinctive nature. Using me as an example, my species though we learned how to do magic like you humans, can only perform water, voice, or healing magic.  But that is still better than the single type of magic that most magical creatures have access to". Coralia finishes explaining and then sits next over to Isaac. "If you are going to meditate, then I will meditate as well". She proclaims and then enters meditation. Isaac also follows in her lead and renters meditation. They both meditate for two hours, before Isaac gets up and Coralia gets up with him.

"Since you are going to be living her with me and my mom, I should tell you this now, but around this time, I go to my master who teaches me magic. You can come with me to the library, I'll ask my master to let you stay there to train your magic or just read books if she won't teach you". Isaac says as he puts on his weighted boots and arm bands. "Coralia can you grab me my shirt real quick"? Isaac asks.

"Sure". Coralia says as she goes to pick up Isaac's shirt, but almost drops it in the process of picking it up. "SO HEAVY!" Coralia screams as she uses all her arm muscles to lift the shirt.

"Hahahahahaha". Isaac laughs loudly as he watches Coralia try to lift his weighted shirt. Isaac had been training hard and with the battle with the wolf cutting it very close for Isaac, he upped the weight on his weighted clothing. Mr Tross increased the weight of his clothing by 25 pounds for each item. It was a bit of a struggle to completely walk in at first, but he adapted to the weight and is now able to perform jogs in the weighted clothing. Isaac grabs the shirt from Coralia's arms and puts it on as he begins to get close to the door, but before he opens the door he stops.

"I almost forgot something, Coralia, sit down on the bed and close your eyes". Isaac says as he begins to approach where Coralia is.

"If you do anything weird, I'll kick you". She replies but does as Isaac says. Isaac takes out a box and puts it in front of Coralia.

"Ok, you can open your eyes now". Isaac says, as he watches Coralia open her eyes and see the box in front of her. Coralia stares at the box in surprise, and then opens the box and finds a pair of sandals in the box.

"Wow...". Coralia says and slips her feet in the sandals, and tries walking in them. She even wiggles her toes as if to feel the material of the sandals. "They are so comfy". Coralia replies in shock.

"They were my mom's sandals when she was a child, and it was a gift from her mom. She wanted me to give them to you so your feet won't get dirty from the ground". Isaac says to her as he gets closer to the door.

"Give me a minute". Coralia says and rushes into the bakery's kitchen. Isaac is standing by the door for a few seconds before he hears a "THANK YOU BIG SIS ISABELLA" and a crashing noise. Isaac walks into the kitchen and sees Isabella on the floor with Coralia hugging her tightly. The scene is so funny, Isaac begins to fall on the ground laughing. After laughing all of what he had in him, Isaac gets up and grabs Coralia off of Isabella.

"Don't worry mom, she's coming with me to the library. Bye mom"! Isaac shouts as he drags Coralia out of the door with him. Isabella who is still on the ground in a daze sits there for a few seconds before shaking of the stars in her head.

"What am I going to do with these kids"? Isabella shakes her as she thinks about this. Isabella gets up and gets back to making baked treats in the bakery.

Back with Isaac and Isabella who are already at the library thanks to Isaac's improved speed and him carrying Isabella the entire way, granted she was trying to wrestle out of his grip, but he was just too strong. Isaac steps into the library and is greeted by the sight of Ms Kanade loafing around at the front desk as always, reading a book in her hands while having her feet propped up.

"Hello Ms. Kanade" Isaac greets Kanade and walks up to the front desk. Kanade continues reading her book a bit longer before finally looking down at Isaac and getting up. She starts at Coralia before a small grin spreads on her face.

"I didn't think I would take in a disciple that wants to perform interspecies dating". She says and laughs to herself. Both Isaac and Coralia get red in the face before they shout at the same time, "AS IF"! Seeing the expression on both of their faces, Kanade giggles even louder while holding her stomach and covering her mouth. After Kanade finishes laughing, she begins to talk about a serious topic. "Isaac, in two years of time, there will be a competition at the magical city to find the best magical talent of the new generation. The age requirement will be between the ages of 5-10, so you'll just reach the age requirement necessary a month before the tournament. So I will be pushing you even harder than before so you can be ready for the tournament, also since you now have a companion with you, this would be the perfect time to ask your mother to allow you to travel". Kanade finishes as she stares at Isaac to see his reaction.

Isaac is currently thinking in his mind about all the information that he has been given by Ms. Kanade. "A tournament for magic? Sounds interesting. I also get to travel and explore more of this magical world, it would be nice to see what else this world has in store for me, instead of staying in this small town, even if I do enjoy my time here". Isaac thinks to himself, before asking Kanade, "What are the prizes"? He asks outright.

"Well, most of the rich clans gain prestige and honor when there child places favorably in the tournament, but from what I hear about this year, any child that places in  one of the top 10 positions can attend the magical academy in the magical city for free.

"Then me and Coralia will attend the tournament in two years time, Ill be counting on you Ms. Kanade". Isaac says, with excitement bubbling in him for when he can participate in the tournament.
