Chapter 3 : New Life

1600 Words
Naomi was starving. Juliette's body wasn't malnourished but it was weak and hungry. When Vienna brought a large tray of food, she couldn't stop herself from drooling. Vienna arranged the tray on the bed and uncovered all the food, personally gave her the cutlery to eat. She poured a glass of juice and placed it on the bedside table for easy access. Naomi was impressed to see this level of pampering. The level of dedication this girl had towards Juliette was astonishing. This girl always did her best for Juliette. Naomi had to take care of her now that she was in her place. "Come and eat with me," Naomi patted the spot next to her and urged Vienna to sit. Vienna was hesitant to do so. As someone who served the miss, it wasn't appropriate for her to sit and eat with the miss. But at the same time she did not want to disobey her orders. "Come here!" Naomi pulled her wrist and made her sit on the bed. Then she gave a spoon to Vienna and told her to eat it. Vienna waited for Naomi to eat first. Naomi was hungry and her patience for food was running out. She dug into the pile of food as if it was a treasure. A spoonful entered her mouth and disappeared in a few bites. When Vienna saw her eating well, her eyes moistened a little. Juliette never ate this way. In order to be master Marvin's perfect partner, she ate slowly in a pretty way. She always put a picture in front of others that screamed elegant and sophisticated. Her plate was never as full as today. Today she was eating like this. Vienna was delighted. Vienna ate small bites to make sure Naomi had enough to eat. Naomi did not notice Vienna's feelings while she inhaled all the food. Once it was done, she patted her stomach and sighed in satisfaction. "Was the food to your liking, miss?" Vienna asked during the clean up. Naomi nodded, "Yes! It was delicious!" "That's good. You must be feeling better now. Would you like me to call your piano teacher to resume class?" Naomi paused and stuttered, "P-Piano?" "Yes," Vienna explained, "When you fell sick, I called your piano teacher to cancel today's class. You have been working so hard for the master's birthday party, so I thought you would want to resume class now that you are fine. Or do you want to cancel the piano performance?" Vienna added that because Juliette said earlier that she wasn't going after master Marvin's affection anymore. A piano performance was one of the ways she wanted to gain his attention at the party. Vienna was not sure if it was still going to do any good if the original purpose was no longer there. Naomi frowned a little and looked away. Juliette's most recent memories did have a little context. Alpha Marvin's birthday was a week away and every year Juliette would throw a big party and invite some big shots who were Marvin's friends. Juliette worked hard every time but Marvin always disregarded it all with an alienated thank you. This year Juliette was not only organising a party, but also a piano performance. She did not like piano but Marvin did. For two weeks, she had been calling a teacher to prepare a proper performance. Naomi looked down at the slender, white fingers and bit her lip. She really did not wish to do anything for Marvin. That ungrateful man did not deserve someone like Juliette. Although she did not agree with her views, she was already practicing and everyone except Marvin had seen it. If she were to stop all of a sudden, it would raise suspicion among them. "Fine. Go ahead. I have practiced so much. At least I can show others what I can do," Naomi shrugged. Vienna excused herself to arrange the class later in the day. Naomi stretched and groaned loudly. She was way too comfortable in bed. Perhaps due to lack of luxury in her previous life, now even the soft bed seemed like a big deal. She fell back on it and closed her eyes. Her past life has been a nightmare ever since she took the role of Luna next to her chosen mate. Although Naomi wanted to forget about it and strive forward towards a good life now, every time she closed her eyes, those images flowed in her head like a bad film. Those prevailing memories made it hard for Naomi to let go of the past. Every time she remembered the tragedy, her blood boiled down to a dangerous temperature. Naomi kept telling herself: her new life as Juliette was going to be beautiful. Naomi was going to take a chance with this one. But along with the desire for a good life, Naomi's mind was divided towards her mate in the last life. That bastard was probably living happily with the woman he cheated on Naomi with. And that woman just happened to be Naomi's best friend of fifteen years. The blow she felt back then was still alive in her soul. It still hurt to think that the two people she trusted most, betrayed her like that. Naomi had to admit that she was curious about them. Her emotions were as raw as they had been on the day she died in that dark alley with no one by her side. Felt like it happened yesterday when Naomi was living happily and the very next second everything was destroyed. Naomi's fists clenched around the soft bedsheet. Her aggressive nature was finally unveiled after being suppressed for years as the Luna. That gentle persona was like a mask that Naomi carried around with her so that she could be viewed as the Luna everyone wanted to see. Now Naomi had shed off that persona. She wasn't that old Naomi who ruined her life to please others. She was Juliette now. The girl who still had the opportunity to change for the better. "Those two should have a taste of their own medicine..." Naomi whispered into the air. She wished for them to die a death worthy of their deeds. A disgusting pair deserved nothing less than a shameful death! Vienna knocked on the door, interrupting the train of aggressive (murderous) thoughts in Naomi's mind. Naomi flipped over twice to rid herself of the expression that basically gave away her thoughts. Vienna went inside to see her miss rolling around on the bed. She covered her mouth and giggled. Juliette was only twenty after all. She was still a child. Vienna took away the empty tray and informed us that the piano lesson would take place in the evening. The session would be ending early since the decision was made at the last minute, only for one hour. "One hour is more than enough for these thin fingers to fall off. How was this girl doing it every day?" Naomi mumbled to herself, her words muffled by her act of rolling around. "Miss, do you want to see master?" Vienna asked cautiously. When she had left the room just now, she happened to catch a glimpse of master Marvin on the first floor. He wouldn't be around here if it wasn't for seeing Miss Juliette. Vienna wanted to ask if he was there to meet Juliette but he went downstairs before she could reach him. Master Marvin was not aware of the change in Juliette's attitude towards him. He was used to her being all around him, so it must have come as a surprise when Miss Juliette did not ask to see him. Not even talk to him after waking up after being sick. Vienna was a bit concerned, but Naomi did not care what he thought. "Why would I meet him? I am still sick. Rest is important." Naomi asked. Her body stopped rolling around. Her dark hair scattered around, creating an image of an angel lying on golden clouds. Her slender fingers occasionally tapped the soft bed, playing an unknown tune on it. Muscle memory was no joke. Even after the original soul was replaced, the body knew the tunes of piano so well. "I saw the master on this floor when I was outside. He must be looking forward to meeting you. You fainted, so he must be worried," Vienna nodded lightly, completely believing herself without solid evidence. It was impossible to not have feelings for Juliette after living together for so many years. "Later. I am still weak. Don't have the energy to deal with him." It was too bad that Master Marvin still hadn't taken the initiative and Juliette was giving up. Vienna sighed. "Tell him that I need some rest so I won't be leaving my room until my piano class," Naomi instructed. If it were up to her, she'd just ignore him. But Alpha Marvin's identity wasn't common. He was the most powerful Alpha and Naomi wasn't bold enough to poke him with disrespect. Moreover, she was living in his house, eating his food and buying clothes from his card. As someone living off of Alpha Marvin, it wasn't right to deal with him harshly. Being indifferent and giving up rotating around him was more than enough. The most she would do was to inform him about her plans. Treat him as he was - an arranged mate. Juliette died. Her love for Marvin also died. Now Naomi was not in the mood for love. Marvin had to deal with it.
