Chapter 8 : Shopping

1062 Words
Naomi was in a good mood as soon as she left the front door. The moment she was out, a beautiful black car stopped in front of her to take her wherever she wanted to go. As she sat in the back seat with Vienna, she couldn't help but once again compare it with her past. In her past life, she once had everyone's respect and care. Anyone would show up with a call. She owned more cars than one would need to use and her mate (and long-term boyfriend before mating) loved her to bits. He always said that she was worth sacrificing the greatest pleasures in life. Naomi snorted at that thought. Looking back now, all of that was bullshit to keep her around so he could cover up his a******y, wasn't it? When she uncovered his mistakes, he also got rid of her. Now sitting in this expensive car, Naomi thought it was still nice. As long as there were no feelings attached, everything was fine. Vienna was agitated and kept fidgeting with her purse. She did not know that she had to accompany Juliette out! It happened so suddenly when Juliette was leaving the house. "Why aren't you dressed?" She asked, as if it was obvious that Vienna would also be going with her. Vienna, taken aback by it, was taken back to her room to change into a good dress and a purse. The purse was empty. Juliette specifically removed all the cash from it. She waved Marvin's card in the air, "We have this." That's how she ended up in the car with jittery nerves. "Don't be nervous. I am taking you out to have fun. If you are nervous all the time, then it will ruin the experience," Naomi said. "I understand that, but Miss, I have work to finish." Vienna couldn't stop thinking about the pending work. According to Naomi's plans, they were going to spend an entire day outside having fun and wouldn't come back home before ten pm. It was the house workers'worst nightmare. She did not want a cut in her salary! Besides, Vienna was a dedicated person. She liked to finish her work on time. "Don't be so stiff all the time. Look, I don't go out that often either. Today I want to have fun and have no one else to experience it with. As my companion, won't you go with me? Will you leave me alone on a day like this?" Naomi reached out to open the window on Vienna's side. A gust of wind combed through her hair in the most gentle way. Naomi opened her window as well and breathed in the fresh air. "It's such a beautiful day," Naomi sighed. Vienna smiled, "It is. Thank you for taking me out with you, Miss." "Call me Juliette when it's just us. Don't be polite all the time." "I can't do that." "Why? You get paid extra to call me Miss?" Naomi joked. Vienna shook her head, "No, it's rude to call the employer by name." "Your employer is your Alpha. He signs your pay checks every month. Not me. So you can call me by my name." Vienna thought about it for a while and nodded. But she did not call him by her name. She avoided calling her anything altogether. Even her sentences were formed in a way where she didn't have to address Naomi as Miss. They first went to shop. The pack was huge. It could be considered huge. Instead of going to a mall, Naomi wanted to explore the local street shops. She loved street shopping and found it a lot more interesting than moving around in a mall with bags. Vienna and Naomi got out of the car in front of a market that was set up every day. It was famous for it's cheap rates and variety of products. The driver took the car away from the crowded area and came back after parking it in a parking space. Vienna and the driver followed Naomi through the market, but only a few minutes in, Naomi started to pull Vienna into the small stores and beautiful stalls. Vienna was also attracted by the beautiful clothes and accessories that were sold at a reasonable price. "This one looks gorgeous! Buy it!" Naomi grabbed a basket and started to fill it up with accessories that looked good on herself and Vienna. She placed them all in one place and had the vendor pack them up. She paid for it together. "I will pay for my own things!" Vienna reached into her purse but found it empty. She remembered that Naomi had emptied it out before leaving. She could only watch as Naomi grabbed clothes, bags and local arts and crafts. The driver took the stuff from their hands and followed them calmly. Halfway through the market, Naomi received a call from Marvin. She was looking through a bunch of clothes when the call came. She wasn't going to stop looking, so the phone went between her ear and shoulder after answering. Vienna saw this and held the phone to her ear. "Hey," Naomi answered. "Where are you right now?" Marvin asked. "I am at this local market. What's the name?" She asked Vienna. Vienna said a name and Naomi repeated it to him. Marvin obviously knew about this place. "When are you coming back?" "Not until after dinner. Why?" "After dinner? Why so late?" "I have things to do. Places to be. I will try to come back early, but I am having a bit too much fun to care about the time. Is there a problem that needs my immediate attention?" Words flew out of her mouth without a second thought. Half of her mind was on the dresses that were so cheap that she wanted to take everything home! Marvin was taken aback by the way she spoke. But he did not show it in his voice. "Not really. Take your time then." Marvin hung up the phone with a sour look on his face. Eric saw it and smiled, "Did she say something again?" "She's busy." "She's never been too busy for you. What happened today?" "She went shopping." Marvin said. Although his tone was normal, the way he typed on the laptop was aggressive enough to show his mood.
