6: Uncomfortable

1120 Words
Antony couldn’t read Julian’s expression, and it worried him. The beautiful man seemed lost in thoughts, and Anthony couldn’t help but fear rejection. He knew not all people like to be fully dominated in bed, and Julian might be one of those people. His heart pounded as the uncertainty ate him up. “Say something,” he begged with a nervous chuckle. “Question,” Julian blurted instead. “Shoot,” Anthony replied. “Does being dominant mean that you will always be top?” Julian asked seriously. His breath held as he waited for his mate’s response. He didn't mind having a dominant mate. What he wasn't sure he could live with was never getting to insert his c*ck in any hole for the remainder of his life. “Of course not!” Anthony laughed, somewhat relieved. At least his mate didn't seem to be bothered by the fact that he would be dominated in bed. “Being a dominant has nothing to do with being top or bottom, beautiful,” Anthony whispered. “Those are just positions in my opinion. And though I haven't been with a man before, I can assure you that I am not opposed to trying being on the receiving end. As long as I am in control.” Anthony added smugly. Julian exhaled, seemingly relieved. And though he didn’t voice it, Anthony saw the change in his demeanor and relaxed internally. A meaningful silence fell over them before Anthony broke it. “Do you want to come over to my place for the night?” Julian’s eyes widened. Though he was eager to get with his mate, he didn’t know if he was ready for that yet. Plus, he didn't trust himself not to lose control and possibly expose his beastly side before he could prepare his mare mentally. Anthony realized his mistake almost immediately. “Just to hang out,” he added quickly. “We can watch a movie or something.” He scratched his head awkwardly. “I don’t have any extra clothes on me,” Julian argued truthfully. “I believe I have something that will fit,” Anthony suggested calmly, but deep down he was anxious. He wanted so much to spend some more time with Julian. To get to know the man better and since Ethan wasn't at home for the weekend, Anthony couldn't think of a better opportunity. “Okay,” Julian agreed. He could hear his mate’s heartbeat, and he didn’t want the man to do all the chasing alone. Anthony smiled. “I will follow in my car,” Julian added. “No, need for that. I will have my chauffeur drive it.” Anthony insisted as he signaled the waiter to get their bill. After taking care of the payment, Anthony led Julian to the parking lot in the basement. There he handed Joshua Julian's keys before he opened the passenger door for Julian and sat behind the wheel. The drive to his place took almost half an hour amidst light chatting. “This place is huge,” Julian awed, getting out of the car after Anthony pulled into the driveway. “My wife and I intended to have a big family,” Anthony confessed casually, without knowing how hurting it was for Julian to hear that simple statement. Plastering a forced smile on his face, Julian followed Anthony through the immaculately large foyer. After hanging his jacket on the rack by the door, Anthony helped Julian remove his before leading him to the living room. Julian winced, seeing all the family portraits hung on the walls. Though he couldn’t blame the man for anything, he was a little sour that his mate had a life without him. “Are you okay?” Anthony noticed a frown on Julian’s face. “Yeah, I am fine.” Julian lied smoothly. But Anthony wasn’t convinced. He saw how Julian suddenly went quiet and followed his line of sight. Realization dawned. Julian seemed weirded out by the pictures of Anthony’s deceased wife, which filled almost every wall. “I have never had anyone over,” Anthony whispered apologetically. Julian nodded wordlessly, but his eyes kept darting to the walls. He felt like an intruder. “I shouldn't have brought you here,” Anthony groaned, rubbing his face in frustration. “I have a suite not far from here…” He trailed. “That would probably be better,” Julian admitted, knowing very well there was no way he could sleep in that house which felt like it was haunting him. Without wasting time, Anthony grabbed Julian's hand and led him to the garage, forgetting even the jacket, and in no time, they were on their way to one of the hotels that Anthony owned. “I am sorry I didn't think this through.” Anthony apologized, reaching out to hold Julian's hand. “It's okay,” Julian shrugged. “No, it's not,” Anthony retorted. “I know you must have a lot of questions.” Julian contemplated lying, but he just had to know if he would be competing with a dead woman. “Do you still love her?” He asked softly. Anthony briefly gazed at him before returning his eyes to the road. “A part of me will always love her.” He confessed, breaking Julian's heart a little. He expected that much, but it didn't stop him from hurting. This woman is Ethan's mother, which means despite him not liking it, Anthony will always hold a candle for her. “But I am not in love with her anymore. It has been many years.” “Have you ever loved anyone else since she…” He didn't finish his sentence, but Anthony knew what he meant to ask. “No, and I think a part of me thought that will never happen again until I met you.” He confessed truthfully. “Me?” Julian's skepticism was palpable. “As unbelievable as that sounds, yes.” Anthony admitted firmly. “That first day we met, I knew you were going to be important to me. But I didn't realize how fast I will fall for you.” The confession rendered Julian speechless. “I am not telling you this to freak you out.” Anthony groaned. “I just want you to have no doubts why I am pursuing you.” “Okay.” It's all Julian could say. And Anthony misinterpreted it for disinterest. “If you want, I can just drop you home.” He offered. “I want to be here too, Anthony.” That got a huge smile out of Anthony. He squeezed Julian's hand. “Good.”
