Selene´s POV Sage trembled in Zack’s arms. The room looked like it had survived a warzone: shattered furniture, claw marks on the walls, blood on the floor, and a heavy silence broken only by Sage’s soft sobs and the sound of our ragged breathing. I stood there, heart still hammering in my chest. My hands ached. So did my muscles. But what hurt the most was the lack of answers. I turned toward them, eyes fixed on Maelys. Her honey-colored eyes avoided mine for a split second before she locked them on me with resolve. “Someone’s going to explain,” I said—not yelling. I didn’t need to. “Now.” Maelys took a deep breath, her face pale, nearly translucent from the effort of healing. Then, she stepped forward. Her voice was tense, shaky, but she didn’t allow herself to falter. “It was me.”
