The distress call hit us just as we were wondering about Selene.
"She went to the university," Kael said at that moment. "We were so careless! We didn’t warn her about anything. She went to enroll, thinking her life here would continue as if nothing had changed."
I ran a hand through my hair.
We hadn’t even considered that detail.
Selene had gotten up early to finish her enrollment process—the one we had interrupted. To her, despite everything we had told her the day before, life in the city, in the human world, would continue to be her routine.
Why would she think that from this moment on, she would have to leave with us, join the pack, and immerse herself in our world?
This was entirely our fault for not telling her!
