Chapter Sixteen

2003 Words

Chapter SixteenWhen I walk home from work, the skies overhead signal a change. The unusually warm weather is about to make way for what an English summer is more known for: endless grey skies and regular showers. I speed up, in the hopes that I can beat the first drops. The wind picks up as I turn into our street, encouraging me to walk even faster. But then, something stops me in my tracks. The spot outside our house where Dad normally parks is occupied by another car, a sports car. My heart skips a few beats. What the f**k is Callum doing here? Did he not get the message? Does he not realise how much trouble I'm going to be in? Walking past the silver grey coupe, I note that it's empty. f**k. He didn't go inside, did he? At least Mum and Dad aren't home this time of day, but Dadi is.
