Chapter 6

Bella POV. The horrible memories played in my head again, first it was the constant bullying of the moonbare Brothers, they refused to let me go, to let me live. I was crawling away from them, my lower half covered in my own blood as my legs were broken further. I Thought I was gaining some distance from them until Raymond's fingers found my hair and forced my upper half upwards to look at them. He had one of the cruellest smiles I had ever seen in my life. “Running away so soon? The fun isn't even over yet.” He chuckled darkly before slamming my head on the dirt covered ground. From the look of the surroundings, it was the forest I had escaped into but how did they find me?! “What are we going to tell our dad now that you ran away?” Raven bent to take in my misery, bringing a knife out of his pocket and instinctively, his brothers followed suite, “I know, we will tell him you died, just like your mother.” And they attacked. At the first strike of the blade entering into my skin, I screamed and jolted up from the nightmare. Tears stung my eyes till they flowed freely, I was a sobbing mess, how I wish my mother didn't die, how I wish she didn't move into that cursed house, we would have been so happy together, now everything was ruined. My life was ruined. “You are awake!” To my surprise, someone burst through my door, her eyes held so much love and care, and she moved swiftly to be by my side, “sshh, sshh, don't cry, don't cry, you are safe now.” she pulled me into a soft hug and told me to calm down but it was so hard not to, everything was ruined, “no one is going to hurt you any more.” She cupped my tear stained face in her hands and looked me deep in the eyes. She had beautiful brown eyes and hair, and though wrinkles etched in her face, she was so beautiful. She reminded me of my mum. I opened my mouth to speak, but another small cry came out, followed by a gentle cough. Quickly, she reached out to the water on the bedside table and tipped the glass in my mouth, only after the drink of water did I recognize where I was. This was no longer the forest. The room was dim, shadows clinging to the corners like they belonged there. Everything in here felt… old. The bed I was on creaked with every slight shift, and the blankets were heavy, smelling faintly of lavender and dust. A small lamp glowed on the night stand, but the light was weak, casting strange shapes across the walls. I noticed a wardrobe across from me, its wood chipped and worn, like it had been standing here for years. Next to it was a simple chair, the cushion sunken and frayed, threads poking out as if they’d been left alone for too long. A little table held a vase with dried flowers—once bright, maybe, but now just brittle and faded. The air felt thick, almost like it was holding memories of a time that didn’t belong to me. And I didn’t feel like I belonged here either. The walls seemed to close in, and the silence was so heavy it was almost painful. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to steady my breathing, but it only made the ache in my chest sharper. The woman’s gentle voice pulled me back, “Hannah, do you remember anything before they found you?” my lips parted, but no words escaped, what did she call me? Hannah? Was that my name now? My eyes searched hers, and she looked very concerned, “some of the pack’s men found you, your clothes were torn, and you were severely injured, do you remember what happened to you?” she asked again, the shock slowly faded, and it was coming back to me. That useless man had tried to r**e me! And then I ran, but…she called me Hannah… I was just about to tell her that my name wasn't Hannah until I remembered that before I passed out, that was what I told them. That my name was Hannah, Hannah Rave. “Yes……” I paused a little bit, blinking, “I was…running away from a wicked man, I left my home and I needed a place to stay, but he wanted something else from me. I left everything behind and fled.” I explained to her before I noticed the bandage on my foot, and that was because she had touched it, the next subject for questioning, “I fell from a height.” I told her before she even asked, she nodded in understanding, but I couldn't help but notice that there was something about the woman that was tending to me. She felt powerful, though she was ageing. “You just need to rest, if there is anything you need, ask for me. My name is Sabrina.” her hand fell to her chest before returning to my face and wiping my tears, “you don't need to be afraid, you are in a safe place.” she assured me and rose to her feet, just as she turned to the door, I called out to her. “Sabrina!” I didn't want her to leave me alone so soon, there was a question that burned into my mind, “where am I?” I believed I was safe, but where was I? “North of the red claw pack is a lesser pack that inhabits the space close to the forest you were in, The Einsis pack. We are not much, but we will take care of you.” she smiled gently at me before nodding again, gripping the door handle and letting herself out. “The Einsis pack?” I had never heard of them before, and yes I did know about lesser packs but… some part of me feared I was in trouble, I was in a pack I knew nothing of, but they were so kind enough to save me from the claws of death, “mum… I miss you…” it eluded me when the words escaped from my lips. I stared at the ceiling, imagining what our lives would have been like before the alpha and his sons came. We might have struggled a bit, but I was sure that we would have been happy. So much happier. And she would have been alive. And those boys, the ones that made my life a living hell. My fist tightened at the thought of them, I wanted revenge, and I would get it, if it was the last thing I did. Suddenly sleep overtook me, and my eyes closed to see the image of my mum. I smiled in my sleep, the temporary h appiness feeling like eternity.
