Three weeks of testing produced nothing. Eighteen council members are clean. Forty-three academy staff are clean. Every assessment came back normal.
Sera was in her office when Sage entered with an older woman.
“This is Tenzin. Shaman from Nepal. She’s seen integration before.”
Tenzin was ninety-three. Tiny. Eyes sharp as blades.
“You fight an invisible enemy,” Tenzin said without preamble. “I help make visible. Where are the suspects?”
“Everyone tests clean. We don’t have suspects.”
“You test the wrong way. I test the right way. Show me wolves in power. I find it integrated.”
Sera brought her to the academy. Tenzin observed classes. Watched instructors. Said nothing for two hours.
Then she pointed at a senior instructor named David.
