Not all at once. Zone Seven first. Communications went dark. Borders sealed. No explanation.
By Friday, three more zones reported critical malfunctions. Integrated wolves are experiencing seizures. Collective consciousness is fragmenting. Panic is spreading through synchronized populations.
“What’s happening?” the council demanded.
No one knew.
Morgan called from the border research station. “Mama, it’s catastrophic. The permanent integration isn’t stable in the long term. After 15 to 20 years, the neural pathways begin to degrade. The entities and hosts are rejecting each other. Thousands are affected.”
“Can it be reversed?”
