Chapter 11
Sartin woke in a cranky mood. Sommar’s song was quieter than it had been the night before. Was his fortune already fading?
Sartin swam on his own in the morning sun. He worried about the evening meal ahead of them. His mother was right. Belzer would put on a show of hospitality. He remembered when his cousins brought their mates for the first time. As soon as they reached Home Cove, Belzer’s true colors came out, expecting the couples to reproduce and then the males to Sacrifice themselves soon after. Belzer’s pod was so much different than Jarnyo’s.
In an effort to clear his mind, Sartin jumped out of the water and into the waves that crashed toward Winter Beach. Some dolphins joined him. He didn’t understand their language, but knew they were having as much fun as him.
