After presenting their catch to the pods, Sartin and Sommar went to Belzer’s spot on the beach. Sartin introduced Sommar to Ballard first, then to Belzer. Just as Ballard had predicted, Belzer poured out more hospitality to Sommar than Sartin had ever seen. Everyone followed her lead. The pod ate their share of the daily catch, a mixture of fish, crustaceans, and sea creatures from the ocean floor.
“The catch was good today,” Belzer said as she finished.
“Yes, the net almost broke bringing the fish back,” Sommar replied.
“Hopefully we will have plenty to eat all Winter,” Belzer said.
