Chapter 14
The land person turned his spears again. He looked up and tapped his chest.
“Maru,” the land person said.
Sartin knocked his own chest, mimicking the land person. The land person said something, but Sartin didn’t understand.
“Maru,” the land person said again.
Sartin continued to tap his chest with his fingertips. He spoke again and stopped the minute a high-pitched squeak came out. The land person jumped, but didn’t cover his ears like before.
The land person stood and approached Sartin slowly. When he got near, Sartin’s arms and neck tingled. This new feeling shot all the way to his stomach.
The land person took his hand and massaged Sartin’s throat. The land person’s hands, though calloused and strong, were gentle. He put his hand on his own throat.
