In the next few days Isabel thought about many things, but above all she thought furiously about Lucy. Who was this strange inscrutable person, cool, almost uninvolved, yet physically full of passion? She had to meet Lucy again.
But she had to go on with Travis. Was it possible to be in love with two people simultaneously, one a man and one a woman? Was she just being greedy and deceitful? Wasn’t this whole business of letting herself rip for three months just selfish self-indulgence, her excuse for it perfunctory? But however much she said this to herself, she still felt the same. She had two dates with Travis coming up, one as Isabel, one as Sonia, and she’d given her mobile number (as Sonia) to Tony.
