Chapter 13 Korrin woke up slowly. He had been asleep for four and a half, maybe five hours. It wasn’t much, but it was enough. He looked over at Kris on the other bed: she still slept soundly, wrapped up tightly in old, musty blankets. He worked the kinks out of his shoulders. These beds in the servant’s quarters probably weren’t comfortable then, let alone now. They were little more than scraps of cloth on wooden boards. But that didn’t matter right now. What mattered was that Ruslo hadn’t come back in the middle of the night. Why hadn’t he shown up? Had something happened to him? He shook his head to clear away those thoughts.
