MATTEO The ride back home was quiet and we both drowned in our thoughts the entire time. Once we arrived at my house, I checked to see if my insufferable father’s car was in the parking lot before inviting Thekla in to spend the evening with me. As soon as I shut the door of my room behind us, she turned to me with a knowing look in her eyes. One that indicated she wanted to offload her thoughts. “Matty, we should discuss our next course of action,” she sighed heavily, sitting herself at the edge of my bed, “I didn’t want to bring it up in the car because I figured you needed some time to process things, but we do need to figure out a plan soon,” she added seriously.
