Trust and Betrayal

273 Words
Jessica stood frozen, uncertainty gripping her heart as she pulled her hand away from Jacob's grasp. “Give me a reason to trust you!” she demanded, her voice filled with defiance. Jacob regarded her with unwavering confidence. “Why do you think they’re trying to kill you now? Any guesses?” he asked, his tone a mix of urgency and clarity. Before Jessica could respond, the sound of gunfire echoed ominously in the distance, causing her to gasp in fear. “I don’t know! Just tell me!” she pleaded, desperation creeping into her voice. Jacob leaned closer, his expression serious as he revealed the potential motive that sent a chill down her spine. “They want to keep you away from your family. If you find them, the truth will come out!” As Jessica tried to process his words, the door swung open, and a worker named Harry stepped inside. Jessica whispered, her heart racing. “Harry, I’m planning to meet my family.” “Oh, honey, congratulations! I hope you find them!” Harry responded with a cheerful smile, but something in his eyes sent a shiver down her spine. A fleeting smile crossed Jessica's face as she exchanged a hopeful glance with Jacob, but the moment was short-lived. In a shocking twist, Harry’s demeanor shifted abruptly, revealing the sinister undertone that had lurked beneath his facade. “In hell,” he said coldly, the warmth of his previous words evaporating like mist. Before Jessica could react, Harry drew a gun, pointing it directly at her. The world seemed to slow as she felt a surge of terror. Bang!!!
