The Unfinished Project

414 Words
Why do you need it? How do you know about our project? Jessica pressed, her eyes narrowing with suspicion as she sought answers from Jacob. The uncertainty hung in the air like a thick fog. Before she could demand more, his hand covered her mouth. “I can’t hear you!” he exclaimed, teasingly muffled. Jessica rolled her eyes and, with a swift movement, punched him lightly in the stomach. Alright, alright! I’ll give it to you, but it’s not completed, man! He extended his hand toward her, silently requesting the project details, but Jessica wasn’t ready to relinquish control so easily. “I know how to finish this!” Jacob declared confidently, extending his hand expectantly. With a playful smirk, she smacked his head lightly. Are you a dumbass? It’s in the lab, and I’ll give it to you after I find my family! A flicker of hesitation crossed Jacob’s face. “How can I trust you?” he asked, a note of skepticism in his voice. Jessica turned away, her back to him as she walked off, her resolve firm. “I don’t make fake promises, honey!” she called back over her shoulder, determination fueling her steps. Jacob stood still for a moment, contemplating her words as she moved further away. There was something about her conviction that intrigued him, igniting a spark of curiosity amidst the chaos that surrounded them. As they reached the restaurant they had been searching for, they were met with disappointment. The place was closed, its glass shattered, a stark sign of recent chaos. “They came here too, I think,” Jacob said, surveying the scene. Jessica lamented the loss of the only person who truly knew her, feeling a mix of despair and determination. But then, an idea sparked in her mind, igniting a flicker of hope. Meanwhile, back at the lab in Korea, the head of the lab was on a call with the CEO of the Korean International Lab. Jessica is searching for her family. What should we do? The head inquired, anxiety creeping into his voice. If she finds her family, she’ll expose our plan. Finish her soon! The CEO replied, his tone icy and decisive. The head of the lab fretted. We didn’t complete the time travel project. She’s the only one who knows how to execute it. The CEO's voice grew angrier, impatience evident. You need her to complete our sinister plan! It’ll be a media sensation. Finish her!
