Chapter 2. Gold and the killer of the king

— How do they die then? — This is another mystery. I've never heard of old dragons. Either they haven't even aged thousands of years on earth, or these creatures don't age. — But somehow they have to die. Everything in the world is transient. — Somehow they have. Detailed investigation of the cave in which they found themselves brought results. Another loophole has been found. It is pretty narrow. Wolf did not like the form of the snake. By nature, he was active and quite emotional. A snake does not have this. You immediately want to take your time and lie down. Although, what does it mean to lay down for a snake? In principle, they cannot stand up. Snakes are not used to mindlessly wasting heat. Then you will have to take it away from the sun for a long time. The fuss is unnecessary. If you freeze and wait long enough, the loot will come to you. For example, Kes is good prey. It has a lot of meat. There are also a lot of bones, but a big snake like Wolf can handle them. All it takes is one good jump, and there is food for the month. Wolf tried not to pay attention to these thoughts. The brain of an animal works according to its own rules. It's a good thing that Kes doesn't know what's going on in the werewolf's head when he changes form. That is why, at every opportunity, the Wolf ate as if for the last time in his life. When you're full, you're less likely to accidentally eat your best friend. Kes peered into the darkness with his cell phone illuminated. — What is there? He was already beginning to get nervous. Why does Wolf not answer? It took a whole minute to guess that his friend was now a snake. Such a huge white snake that can't speak. A minute in total silence and almost total darkness, if not for the immortal mobile phone, glory to him and his charger. Stop. The silence. The dragon was silent for a whole minute. Kes quickly rushed into the side cave. Maybe it's a dead end. But behind was rustling death, and ahead was a few meters of life. Caught in the dark between two snakes, but still living. The side tunnel turned out to be not as narrow as it seemed at first glance. Kes climbed, knocking his knees and hands. He tried not to think about what was behind him until he saw the snake's face in front of him. Such a huge, white snake. Wolf also rushed to Kes. It would be good if he brought encouraging news. For a moment, it seemed to Kes that the snake did not have Wolf's eyes at all. He had seen the Wolf transform more than once, but for some reason, he always tried to avoid looking into the eyes of his inhuman form. And now Kes understood why. The snake moved back a little and puffed up its hood. — That's all, now it will bite off my stupid, but still so pretty head. — in an instant, it flashed through Kes's rather pretty head. The wolf quickly turned around. The size of the tunnel was enough for the snake. Kes let out a sigh of relief. — Wolf had nothing like that in mind. Then he got angry at that creature that was crawling after me. Stop, the creature that crawls after me! Move, Kes, move! If there had been enough light, one would have been able to see many traces of blood left by the beaten legs and arms. But Kes didn't care much about that now. He didn't even feel any pain. Even at the moment when he landed in a pile of gold. The stone tunnel ended abruptly, leading them into yet another cave. The only problem was that it was several meters to the ground. Wolf was moaning nearby. It was not possible to change from a snake into a bird in flight. — Wolf, are you alive? — It seems so. But if this is life, I don't like it. Kes tried to get up. A ringing rustle was heard. When they managed to turn on the mobile phone, the guys were amazed. The light reflected off piles of gold, precious stones, and just beautiful golden things that had once attracted the dragon. Wolf took handfuls of coins and poured them out, creating a small golden waterfall that glittered in the light. Only when a person gets into such extreme situations, does it become clear how fast our consciousness really is. In a second, many thoughts rushed through the guys' heads at a confident gallop, like herds in Jumanji. First, there was a craving for gold. People inherited it from dragons. This metal is necessary for them. And the more of it, the better. The radiation helps the regeneration of dragons. It's no secret that in every living organism, cells are constantly born and dying. The human body is completely renewed every seven years. What about dragons? It is not known for sure. But it is obvious that they also have something similar. And gold provides this process. Like everything in the world, it has its own radiation, in which dragons love to bask. Gold ensures their immortality and eternal youth. And for people, the desire for gold is just a memory from a long-forgotten past that they didn't even experience. At the same time, the guys thought that it was indeed a very old royal dragon. Only they can accumulate so much gold.
