With all my strength, I forced myself free, sitting up clutching at my rounding belly and still screaming for Maxon. The warm pain that had begun to spread throughout my stomach slowly disappeared until I could no longer feel it. The bright red that shown beneath my eyelids let me know that I was no longer in the darkness. Fear and realization for my pups, and fear for myself, had overridden my senses as one thought continued to play in my mind… why were my pups their conqueror?
Hands shook me and I clung to myself tighter, making sure that my arms formed a protective barrier around my belly. I’d die to protect my pups.
