“Bro, are you sure about this? I mean... this is huge," Alex said cautiously. Maxon had been looking out of his office window, too afraid to look away from her for even a moment even to glance at his best friend as he spoke.
The fear that had begun eating away at him only five months prior kept him from looking away from her. “I know the risks Alex,” he said somberly.
Maxon had been well aware of the consequences and the risks that came along with this plan but what else could he do? For the first time, the actual time, he was dealing with the fear and worry of not being able to protect his mate… the premonition itself was a constant reminder of how he failed as a mate, and he never wanted to feel that failure again. The fear of letting Nova down again was a heavy thought on his mind.
