Chapter 10 - Aleksander

1128 Words
I held Lina's hand for support, not knowing how she will react when Aksel and Vell come out behind the trees. Surprisingly I don't smell any fear on her now. She lets my hand go and walks straight to Vell, hesitating a bit but lifting her hand to show she wants to touch her. When I hear her giggle after Vell likes her face I feel Ash push forward wanting to meet his baby sister, wanting to play with her and protect her all at the same time. I go just inside the treeline and strip as fast as I can letting Ash come forward. Ray and JJ did the same. Vell nudges Lina gently so she can turn to meet us. She looks at each of as slowly probably trying decide who is which wolf. After a minute se walks over and we waist no time trying to keep her attention on is. The more we playfully fight for her attention the more excited Ash gets to meet Lina' wolf as well. Mom came back out and explain how the shift feels and we instantly smell the fear come off her. I go back and get dressed wanting to hold and comfort her. Lina is strong. I can see her trying to hide her fear. Ray walks her behind a few trees so she can undress and put the blanket around her. When they walk back out Lina looks more nervous now. "Remember that you are not alone. We are not going anywhere." I have to reassure her. We all step back wanting to give her space to shift. When its finally midnight we all feel her mindlink snap into place. We feel the presence of the wolf and her connection to the pack sets in. Lina closed her eyes, takes a deep breath and shifts likes she has done this a hundred times before. Her wolf is Just as big as Aksel. She has Vells reddish coat only its more gold, almost shining in the moonlight. 'Lina. Your wolf, she's... magnificent.' she took my breath away. 'Dad, have you ever seen a wolf like her? she's practically glowing?' 'I have never seen a wolf like her but i have heard stories. We will need to do some research later, but for now I'm going on a run with my daughter.' That was all Ash needed to push forward, he barely gave me enough time to get my clothes off and we all took off running together. Ash stayed behind Lina, not wanting to let her out of sight. But as soon as Rain showed Lina se wanted to play and Lina immediately joins Rain we start fighting for her attention again. All wanting to play and bond with her until mom reminds us that this was only her first shift and we shouldn't be pushing her. We head back to the clearing and shift immediately. I hear dad bombard Lina with questions first. "I feel fine. I didn't feel any pain and I'm not sore now. Layla said we are special, but I'm not sure what that means." Lina answers. "Layla, is that your wolf's name?" I ask walking next to her. "Yes. I never asked wat your wolves names are, I didn't realise they had different names?" Ray introduced all our wolves. "Did Layla say why you're special?" Mom asked Lina but we could all hear the uncertainty in her voice and mom backed off a bit and told us all to go get some rest. "Happy Birthday sweetheart." Mom said well pulling Lina into a hug and we all joined in. On the way to our rooms Ray, JJ and I discussed Lina's shift and decided to use this weekend to get to know Lina and to give het the time she needs to get to know us. We would research her wolf in our private time so we would be ready and able to answer questions when she asked. Mom wakes me up at 08:15 to tell me Lina is up already and helping her foster brother move around heavy equipment. I get up after a bit of convincing, take a shower so I'm fully awake and ready for the day. It's 08:45 when I'm out the door and on my way to Lina. Not bad. Luckily I don't have to search long as we bump into each other on the stairs. "We should really stop meeting like this" she joked and I love her playful spirit. "We really should, I might end up bruised at the speed you travel." she laughs and smacks my arm. "Where are you off to in such a hurry anyway?" I turn and walk beside her as we climb down the stairs. "I want to test the camera Mason got me. I'm going to take a few shots of him practicing." Lina tells me and I can see the excitement plastered on her face. "a Camera, so does that mean you like photography?" I ask, very interested in getting to know her as much as possible. "Yes. I absolutely love taking photos. It's like being able to see things from different perspectives but also a way for me to show people how I view the world, or rather see the world I want to live in." "So what do you like taking photos of the most then?" she stops for a second before turning to me and answering. "Nature has always been my preference but my favourite thing to take photos of has always been Wolves." she reaches one hand up and clasps something in her hand through her shirt. a Smile spread on my face. "Wolves hu? That's so interesting. I find them fascinating as well." I couldn't resist teasing her a bit. Actually I was very happy about it. That means subconsciously she remembered and felt drawn to us. That might also explain why she accepted it so easily last night or didn't completely freek out about it. "No but seriously, I have always been drawn to wolves, so much so that my 14 year old sister got me a wolf necklaces for my birthday." se smiled and removed the pendant from under her shirt. Proudly showing it to me. I feel a bit sad knowing I didn't get her anything, but then it hits me. "Can I take you somewhere? It's my favourite spot in the woods. Only of you want to." I can't remember when last I felt so unsure, so nervous, afraid of being rejected. "I'd love that. Do you mind if we go after Mason's set. I promised I'd record it and I am here to support him after all." Relief washes over me as we walk out the pack house.
