Chapter 3 - Aleksander

'Alek, could you please go check on the human boy your sister insisted needs to be the entertainment this weekend? We don't want any unnecessary stress added to this weekend.' My mother mind linked me. 'Yes mom. I will keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn't go anywhere he's not supposed to.' 'Thanks sweetheart, oh and he brought someone with him so you will need to watch them both.' Great, how did I get babysitting duty. 'I've got it mom.' I headed up to the room we assigned the human for the weekend when a young woman walked straight into me. The moment I saw her face my mind went nuts. She looks like my mom with her wavy red hair and light skin tone but with my dads green eyes, my eyes. She looks like Jason. Who is this girl? Where did she come from? Why have I never seen her here before? Could it be? I was so lost I didn't hear what she asked before a young man walked to her side asking her to lunch. Who is he? She turned to me and asked if she was allowed to explore the gardens. This was my chance to find out who she was. "I'm sure my father wouldn't mind you exploring as long as you take an escort. I would love to show you around after you have lunch, if that’s acceptable to you?" I turned to the young man hoping this would reveal their relationship to one another. "You should let him show you around Lina" Lina, my little Lina? "I would feel better knowing you won't get lost and I was planning on practicing for a while after lunch anyway. You should have some fun while we're here." He turned to me "Sorry I didn't catch your name?" He asked while extending his hand to greet me formally. "I am Alek Scot, nice to meet you" "Mason Leroux, the pleasure is mine." so this is the human I'm supposed to babysit. " Please see that my sister doesn't go out exploring on her own, last time she was gone for nearly 2 days and my parents almost called the cops on her." Sister? They don't look related. Well at least that means I can get to know her without a jealous boyfriend hovering over us. I have to know if this is our Lina. I smirked at her before turning back to Mason "I will see that she returns before dinner. That way you know she won't disappear on you" He thanked me before heading off to lunch. "So, would you allow me to show you around after you have lunch with your brother Miss Leroux." Her face turned bright red. She looks adorable. "I would like that and it's Lina please." She said before turning to the stairs and practically running out of the house. Is this our Lina that went missing all those years ago. It can't be. Can it? I went up to Lina's room looking for a picture of her. I needed to know if they were one and the same. I needed to know if my baby sister was indeed alive. Looking at a 5 year old Lina, I can see the uncanny resemblance. She looks just like Jason with moms features but dads light green eyes. Now I definitely need to find out more about her. Do I tell my family what I suspect? No what if I'm wrong, what if its just my hope. But what if I'm right? I stood at the railing of the 4th floor looking over the dining area patiently waiting for her to finish while I tried to think of things I could show her that might spark up a conversation I need to have. As I see her walking out the house and straight to the garden I remember the flowers my father had specially planted for Lina after she insisted that they were her most favourite thing on this planet and she could not live without one of her very own. It was a very rare flower she saw at one of the other pack lands and my father managed to convince them to give her a small seedling to grow on her own. We now have a big part of the forest filled with her flowers and it was a beautiful place to walk as well. I started walking outside, confident that she would at the very least ask about the flowers. After asking if she was ready I could help both the excitement and the fear I felt as we walked to the forest. Not knowing what to say I walked beside her silently hoping she was my sister, hoping she was next to me and would remember me, that she would hug me or tease me, or even shout at me for not finding her sooner. Anything as long as it was her. The moment we entered the woods her face lit up and she went straight to the flowers. Thank the Goddess. "That is a very rare flower, it's called a Middlemist Red. It's my sister's favourite flower." I watched her as she bent down for just a moment before standing up straight ready to continue walking. "It's beautiful. I have never seen anything like it." She said as we walked further into the woods. Just as disappointment started washing over me she spoke again. "So you have a sister, do you have any other siblings?" I tensed up a bit at her question not sure if I should just ask her straight up. No I can't do that, just work up to it. "Yes I have 2 sisters and a brother. The party this weekend is actually for my youngest sister's 18th birthday." "Really? I'm turning 18 tomorrow as well." Same birthday, same name, looks like my family, It has to be her. "I'd love to meet her so I could wish her a Happy birthday as well." Oh no, what do I say? No I'll just tell he about my sister just like I would if she were a stranger that didn't have so many resemblances to my missing sister. "Or not. That's ok, what was I thinking, she probably doesn't want some strange girl she's never met wishing her a Happy Birthday anyway." Speak Alek speak. "No it's not like that. She... " deep breath " she's not here, she went missing 13 years ago. We searched for her for years but have never been able to find her." Shock spread over her face. "What was your sister's name?" She asked almost to fast like she would change her mind if she didn't do it quickly. Just tell the truth Alek. I closed my eyes "Lina, her name is Lina." She gasped and froze in place. s**t. What did I do?
