Chapter 16 - Lina

"We need to get ready for the ball. I'm sure Racheal doesn't mind helping you get ready." Mom told us.

"Definitely." I could see Rachael's excitement replace the sadness instantly. "We only have five hours left". She took my hand and pulled me from the living room. I couldn't help but giggle at her reaction.

After spending an hour deciding what to wear I head to my room. She gave me specific instructions to be back in 2 hours so she has enough time to do my hair and makeup.

I head to Mason's room to check on him before going to get ready. He was also trying to figure out what to wear.

"Would you like my opinion?" I ask him teasingly. "Yes please your majesty, do tell me what I should be wearing to the royal ball this evening." he teases right back.

"Let me see... This one is too plain, this one is too stiff. Hmm I think this one is just perfect, It's outspoken, bright and most definitely will ensure you are noticed and remembered by everyone." I pick up his Rubber duck covered boxers and hold them in front of him. "Yes this is definitely the one."

He grabs the boxers from me and I can't hold my laugh any longer. We both are lying on the bed laughing uncontrollably. This was definitely what I needed and I'm sure it's what Mason needed as well.

When I finally pulled myself together I pick up the outfit that would suit my dress the best. "This one" I hand it to him. "Thanks Lina."

"So how do you feel?" He asks me.

"Overwhelmed, nervous, happy and scared." I tell him honestly.

Without asking me a single question, he just wraps me up in a warm, loving embrace.

With no idea how long we had held each other, I finally pull away. "We have to get ready. I'll see you downstairs."

He gives me a smile and I go back to my room to shower.

When I get back to Racheal's room I can see she has set up a bunch of hair and makeup products. Not giving me any time to think about what I'm about to go through, she grabs my hand and places me on the chair.

"I'm so excited." she says while clapping her hands together.

30 minutes before we need to be downstairs and we aren't even dressed yet.

Ray goes to put on her dress first. She comes out of the bathroom wearing a strappy baby blue dress with a slit in the one side three quarters up her thigh. She is wearing light makeup and her hair is hanging loosely down her back.

"Wow. You look stunning Ray." she smiles at me and hands me my two dresses to get changed. "Your turn."

I stair at the green dress Frank and Jen bought me and a silver dress Ray picked out. I decide to go with the dark green dress. It's a floor-length dress with an asymmetrical neckline. It also has a slit in it that, luckily, stops halfway up my thigh.

It complements my skin and my eyes and looks great with the updo hairstyle Ray gave me. I match it with silver heels.

Walking out the bathroom, Ray gasps when she sees me. "Breathtaking." is all she managed to get out.

She looks at me a minute and then turns and walks to her dresser.

A few seconds later she comes back holding a small box. "Here, I think this will fit perfectly." she hands me the small box and I see a fine silver diamond necklace with matching earrings. "Its beautiful."

Ray takes the necklace from the box and walks behind me to help me put it on. When she's done I go to the mirror to put the earrings on and she is right, it fits the look perfectly.

When we walk out of the room, Alek and JJ are already waiting for us. Alek is wearing a grey suit with a dark green dress-shirt with the top two buttons undone and JJ is wearing a black suit with a light blue dress shirt and a black tie.

I look at my handsome brothers a bit confused, then back at Ray, who I now see is smiling mischievously. "I had a feeling you would be wearing the green dress so I linked them to make sure they matched us, seeing as they will be our dance partners for the traditional opening dance." Ray tells me.

"Dance? I have to do a traditional Dance? but..." Alek interrupted me. "We have about 20 minutes for me to teach you the steps." He said well extending his hand. "It's not that difficult. Place your left hand in mine and your right hand on my shoulder. Just relax and follow my lead." He takes me through the steps slowly first, then we go through it once properly and just like that our 20 minutes are past and we hear mom's voice in the link. "Its time"

I take a deep breath and link my hand through Alek's arm and we follow JJ and Ray down the stairs.

The hall is decorated with lights and elegantly placed decorations. Mom and Dad are standing on the 3rd step from the bottom. Ray and JJ stop 2 steps above them and Alek stops us at the top of the final stair case, just out of site from all our guests.

"Welcome." Dad's voice sounded and everything got quiet as everyone was now focused on him. " Thank you all for joining us on this wonderful day, to celebrate not only the 18th birthday of our youngest daughter, Lina, but also that the Moon Goddess has brought her back home." Cheers erupt through the hall. "Without any further adew, I present to you my Daughter, Lina Layla Scott."

I take a deep breath and we begin descending the stairs. Everyone gave way for me and Alek to pass. We stopped in the middle of the hall. Mom and dad on our left and JJ and Ray on our right. Alek places his hand on my waist and extends the other for me to take. When the music starts I drown out everyone and only focus on Alek. I made it through the entire dance, hoping I did not make a fool of myself or my family. 'Now it's time to introduce you to everyone' Alek links me. 'Promise me you will stay by my side. I don't think I can do this without you.' 'Always' Alek responded with a smirk.
