Chapter 2 - Lina

We drove up to the entrance of the country house, and there were two giant steel gates. Both sides had an emblem of a wolf on them and I could not help but smile at the beautiful animal they chose to represent. The guard came up to my window and asked for our names and if we were expected. "Hi I am Lina and this is my brother Mason Leroux, he was invited to play for the weekend events and I am here to accompany him."

The guard step back a few paces checking something on the tablet in his hand before coming back to the window "Please drive strait to the main house, Miss Salvatore will meet you at the entrance and show you to your rooms." I thank the guard and drove off.

As we approach the main house I heard Mason struggling to find his words next to me. "It's amazing, don’t you think so Mason?" "I have never seen a house this big in my life." Mason looks at me and swallows hard and I know he is now worried about messing up his performance and angering the people who own this place.

I park the van and turn to look at Mason. "Listen to me, it doesn't matter how big the house is or how fancy the people are. You are a great musician and you will give them the best performance they have ever seen. You will hold your chin up high and you will be confident in yourself" he shakes his head to show me he heard but was still not quite able to speak.

I got out and walked to the women waiting at the bottom of the stairs. "Are you miss Salvatore?" "Yes, You must be Mr and Miss Leroux. Please follow me to your rooms." I look to my side to ensure Mason was with me before following the women into the house.

As we walked through the house miss Salvatore pointed at all the areas that we were required to know about and all the areas that were strictly off limits. We reached the end of the hall on the 2nd floor when she finally stopped.

"The room on my Right is yours Miss Leroux and the room to my left is for Mr Leroux. I trust you will find everything you need inside. Please drive your van to the back of the house when you are done collecting your bags." Mason finally spoke "Thank you miss. Can you tell me who I need to see about my performance times and places?" "You need to see Mr Thompson, his office is the first one on your left at the bottom of the stairs." he thanked her and turned to walk into my room with me.

The room had a double bed in the middle of it, there was a small walk in closet and a full bathroom just for me. I even had a small balcony overlooking the woods. I couldn’t have imagined a better place to wake up on my 18th birthday. We went to Mason's room next and he had the same setup except for two single beds instead of a double like mine.

An hour later we had all our thing up in our rooms and neatly packed, ready for the performance tomorrow. I went back down to park the van in the back of the house as requested when I accidently bumped into someone on the way down. He was a strikingly handsome young man. In comparison to him my family where average. He was as tall as Hunter with broader shoulders and a strong jawline. He had Black hair and Green eyes that looked like mine. He reminded me of someone, but I couldn’t quite place him yet. "I'm so sorry, I wasn't paying attention. Have we met?" He looked dumbstruck and couldn't answer my questions before we were interrupted.

"Lina, I was going to get us something to eat, do you want to eat in the dining hall or would you prefer to eat in your room?" Mason asked as he approached us. "I need to move the van around first but I will join you in the dining hall when I'm done." I turn back to the man I ran into and ask "do you know if we are allowed to explore the grounds. I do love walking in the woods but I don't want to overstep."

He looks at me a second before clearing his thought to answer "I'm sure my father wouldn't mind you exploring as long as you take an escort, I would love to show you around after you have lunch, if that’s acceptable to you?" he looks at Mason as if asking permission and Mason looks utterly impressed.

"You should let him show you around Lina, I would feel better knowing you won't get lost and I was planning on practicing for a while after lunch anyway. You should have some fun while we are here." Mason looked from me to the young man.

"Sorry I didn't catch your name?" he extends his hand to greet our newly found friend, if I can call him that. "I am Alek Scott, nice to meet you" "Mason Leroux, the pleasure is mine. Please see that my sister doesn't go out exploring on her own, last time she was gone for nearly 2 days and my parents almost called the cops on her." I looked at him with a surprised look on my face, why would he tell a complete stranger that.

Alek smirks at me before turning to Mason "I will see that she returns before dinner. That way you know she wont go disappearing on you"

"Thanks Alek. That would be appreciated." Mason turned and continued to the kitchen.

"So would you allow me to show you around after you have lunch with your brother Miss Leroux." I felt an instant blush on my cheeks as i smiled at Alek "I would like that and its Lina please."

I turned on my heels and rushed back to the van before he could say anything els. Lina what has gotten in to you. You are here to support Mason not to flirt with men way out of your league. Pull it together Lina. I took a deep breath to compose myself.

The parking garage at the back of the house was huge, theres space for about a hundred cares back here. I can only imagine all the people that will be attending the event this weekend. I wonder what the even was for.

After lunch with Mason I went out the front door to have a look around the gardens. They where quite spectacular. I have never seen a garden this big and well maintained.

I was only in the garden for about 10 min when Alek came walking up to me. "Ready to go exploring?" He asked me with a bit of mischief in his voice. I couldn't help the feeling that I knew him but I still couldn't figure out how or where I have seen him before. "Yes, I'm ready. Where should we go first?"

"Follow me" he said confidentiality while walking towards the woods. We walked in silence until I saw the most beautiful bright pink flower, it almost looks like a rose except I have never seen this specific one before. " That is a very rare flower, its called a Middlemist Red. Its my sister's favourite flower." He told me just as I was bending down to get a better look. "It's beautiful. I have never seen anything like it." I got back on my feet so we could continue walking.

"So you have a sister, do you have any other siblings?" I saw him tense up a bit at my question for just a second before he answered "Yes I have two sisters and a brother. The party this weekend is actually for my youngest sister's 18th birthday."

"Really? I'm turning 18 tomorrow as well. I'd love to meet her so I could wish her a Happy birthday."

Alek flinched again. "Or not. That's ok, what was I thinking, she probably doesn't want some strange girl she's never met wishing her a Happy Birthday anyway." He looked at me for a second but I couldn't read the expression on his face. Before I could change the subject Alek spoke again. "No its not like that. She... " he takes a deep breath " she's not here, she went missing 13 years ago when we were all out camping. We searched for her for years but have never been able to find her." I took a deep breath, that's the same time I was found? No it has to be a coincidence. "What was your sister's name?" I asked before I could stop myself. He looked at me a little hesitantly before deciding to answer. He closed his eyes and said "Lina, her name is Lina." I gasped and froze in shock. Could it be, could that be why I feel like I know him, like I have met him before, could that be why I recognised the road on the way here. Could he be... My family?
