Chapter 13 - Lina

1299 Words
After our heartwarming performance Mason took a 10min break before continuing his set. Once he was back on stage I started taking photos of him and the party instead of joining my family back at the table. I needed a moment of normalcy to clear my head and sort through my thoughts and feelings about everything I've learnt so far but as fate would have it I wasn't given much time to process when a sharp pain strikes my side and an overwhelming amount of fear flows through me. Just like in the past I am pulled to the person whose pain and fear I am experiencing. So I start walking without paying any attention to my surroundings. 'Lina? Where are you going?" I hear Mom first then Alek. 'Someone needs me, I have to get to them.' I link my family all at once not wanting to waist time answering questions. I am already sprinting trough the forest by the time Alek catches up to me, now running slightly behind me, letting me lead the way. 'You know we have warriors and pack patrols that could assist the person?' Jason asks me 'If I could tell you where they are then maybe they could yes, but I can't explain where the feeling is pulling me to go' Jason didn't have time to respond before I saw them. I ran right into the middle of a group of three men and two wolves surrounding a young girl around 10 years old. She is holding her side and I can see blood coming through her clothes. When se looks at me I spot the bruises on her face and neck her wrist is bruised as well. a Scream escapes me, releasing all the pain flowing from the little girl to me, knocking the men off their feet and causing the wolves to cry in pain but it didn't affect the girl or my brothers at all. I stood protectively next to the little girl 'Lina, Let me speak to them.' I trust Layla and let her take control but I do not want to shift. "Shift" I hear myself say only a bit more ruff then I usually sound and I realise it's Layla's voice. The two Wolves shift back into their human form and the 5 men are now kneeling on the ground in front of us. "Don't Move!" Layla said and they all stay completely still. I'm not sure how she is doing that but I trust her and don't ask questions. "Identify yourself" Layla told then with a powerful tone in her voice. The man to the right speaks up first. "John Williams, Rogue" then they went down the line introducing themselves to us. "James Anderson, Rogue" "Christopher Brown, Rogue". "Robert Davis, Mountain Moon Pack". "Benjamin Thompson, Mountain Moon Pack" I look over my shoulder to find Alek fighting his anger while Jason is linking someone. "What do you want with this girl?" This time Layla sound more angry. Christopher is the one to respond. "We were told that a high ranking female pup in this pack has special abilities. There is a reward for anyone who can deliver her to the Alpha of the Blood River Pack." Benjamin spoke next "I see now that their information was outdated as you are no longer a pup. You have already come of age, which means it will take a lot more that the five of us to capture you alive." 'Layla? What are they talking about?' I ask a bit scared now. 'We are a part of a legend but no wolf would be dumb enough to attack us nou that I am by your side. That's why I led you away from here. I had to make sure you where safe.' We are now surrounded by 10 more men and women. I pull the little girl to my side ready to protect her when Alek walks up next to me. "Take them to the dungeons and find out anything els we need to know" he sais. "Walk with them, do not fight, do not resist" Layla speaks before the men are pulled to their feet. Once they are out of sight I kneel down and turn to the little girl. "You are safe, you are mine and I will always protect you" I tell the little girl and she wraps her arm around my neck and begins to cry. "It's ok little one, your safe now." I gently rub circles on her back. "Now, can you tell me your name?" "Maggie" she whispers through her crying. "May I pick you up Maggie, we need to go back to the house so I can check your wounds." she only nods and I place one arm under her bum and cross the other over her lower back not wanting to add any pain. "Is there a first aid kit or something in the house I can use to clean her wounds?" I ask "Even better, we have our own infirmary, it's on the side of the house. We will take you there." Jason responds while placing his hand on my back. 'I have already asked the nurse to get everything ready that might be needed to check her and I have also informed her parents as well as Mom and Dad. They will all meet us there.' Alek linked me. The moment we entered the door I heard gasps and a cry in pain, someone angry hit the wall and Maggie tensed up in my arms so I turned around and walked back out. "I think it would be best if everyone could step outside so Maggie can be checked." I leave no room for argument in my voice and wait for everyone the leave the room before taking Maggie back in and closing the door behind me. "Maggie, I'm going to put you down on the bed so I can check you tummy. Is that ok?" She nods and I gently lay her down. Not wanting to harm her I grab the scissors and cut her top of revealing bruised ribs a few deep cuts and possibly a broken bone or two. I gently clean the cuts then check her wrist, neck and face. Nothing looks broken, only bruised. I place my one hand over the cuts and broken ribs while brush her hair with the other. "This will only hurt for a moment than all the pain will be over." Not giving her time to think or react I focus my energy on healing her. She wines a bit then a gasp escaped her before she stops completely. I smile down at her knowing her pain is gone. "Everything will be ok now. You are all better" I give her a moment before opening the door. "She is fine now, she will have some muscle pain but there are no more serious injuries or bruises. Please be gentle she is still a bit shaky from the event." I tell everyone waiting outside. "I had to cut off her shirt, so I would prefer to get her clothes before any men enter the room." "There are extra clothes in the corner cupboard, here let me help you." an older woman tells me and I assume she is the nurse so I let her in and close the door again. "Here, it might be a bit big but it should be fine to take her home in" the women hands me a white shirt. "Thank you. Can you please tell her parents thay can come in now." I pull the shirt over Maggie's head before the women opens the door. "Are you ok?" I ask Maggie softly "Yes. Thank you for saving me." se whispers while hugging my waist.
