Chapter 8 - Lina

It is just before midnight and I am now standing in the middle of the clearing wearing only a blanket. This is a really awkward way to spend my first time with my family.

I am slightly nervous but more afraid. What if I can't stay calm, what if the pain is too bad, what if...

"Just relax sweetheart. Your wolf will know what to do, all you need to do is relax and trust in your wolf. You need to give up control and allow her to do this for you." Mom's voice brings me back as she hugs me before stepping back.

"Remember that you are not alone. We are not going anywhere." Alek said as he walked backwards to stand next to the others.

Only a few minutes past when I feel a stranger feeling was over me and I hear a voice in my head. 'Hello Lina' I jumped back a bit not knowing who just spoke to me. 'My name is Layla and I am your wolf. Don't be scared.' I feel my heart speed up. 'Don't worry Lina. We are special. This won't hurt much, as long as you don't fight me and let go.' I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and calmed my mind. 'I give you control' I think to Layla hoping that it will help.

When I opened my eyes again I am now looking at the grass. Everything seemed brighter, louder, more intense. I can hear animals moving in the woods. I can smell all the different plants around me. This is amazing. But when does the pain start. 'I told you we are special, there will be no pain Lina. We have already shifted.' 'But how? Mom said...' 'I know what mom told you, i have all the same memories as you. She wouldn't have known because she hasn't met me yet. Anything there is to learn about me you will know first. We are one and everything I am you are as well.' I look up to see five shocked and confused faces looking back at me. 'Lina. Can you hear me?' Dads voice was in my head. 'Dad?' I tried to respond but I'm not quite sure how. 'Lina, your wolf, she's... magnificent.' Alek's voice sounded in my head. 'Goddess Lina, I have never seen anyone shift that fast on their first go. That was amazing' Jason practically screams in my head. I need to figure out how that works.

'It's called mind linking. It works like a phonecall just without the technology. All you do is think of the person you want to talk to and then just speak in your head.' Layla explains.

Racheal voice is in my head a few seconds later only its a bit different 'Hi Lina, I am Rain, Racheal's wolf. I am so happy to finally meet my sister.' wow so I can talk to their wolves as well? 'Hi Rain.' 'Yes you can speak to any one of us at any time. That is the amazing thing about being in a pack. You will never be alone, the entire pack is connected' Layla tells me.

They all are back in their wolf forms second later and we take off running. Dad takes the lead and Jason and Alek stayed behind Mom, Ray and Me. It feels amazing. I can feel the earth pulsating beneath my paws and the wind blowing through my hair. I feel strong, confident, brave. I feel... free.

Ray or Rain started nudging me, I am a little confused 'Rain wants to play with me, it's how we show affection and how we bond with each other.' Layla explains. So I let her take control and watch as they all started chasing and nipping each other, Alek's wolf even tackled us to the gound.

I have no idea how long we have been out here when I heard mom's voice 'Time to go back home, we done want Lina to over do it today. We can all come out for a run some other time.' No one argued and we head back to the clearing.

So how do we shift back? 'I will give you back the control and once you take it fully we will be back in human form. Ok?' 'Ok' I respond to Layla.

I feel her fading to the back of my mind and my body changing back. It didn't hurt like they said it would. It felt like my skin was tingling for a few moments. I get dressed and walked back into the clearing.

"Lina, your wolf. She beautiful. I have never seen a golden wolf before. I've also never seen anyone shift that fast on their firs try. How did you do that? How are you feeling?" Dad asked. "I feel fine. I didn't feel any pain and I'm not sore now. Layla said we are special, but I'm not sure what that means."

"Layla, is that your wolfs name?" Alek asked next to me. "Yes. I never asked wat your wolves names are, I didn't realise they had different names?"

Ray was the one to answer "You already no my wolf is Rain, Alek's wolf is Ash, JJ's wolf is Jude, Mom's is Vell and Dad's is Aksel. They are as much our family as we are to eachother."

"Did Layla say why your special?" Mom asked walking over to stand infront of me. "No, she just said we're special, we haven't really talked about it yet." "That's ok, you have plenty of time. I think we should all go get some rest. It's already 02:00 am and we have many things to do today. Happy Birthday sweetheart." Mom said well pulling me into a hug. Everyone joined in and we were now huddled up in one big family hug.'
