Walking out of the infirmary I see my family all standing together waiting for me. "I'm guessing this means no more waiting till tomorrow." I sigh knowing I have to tell them everything I have done in the past and I need to talk to Layla to find out what I don't know about our powers.
"Ok so how about this, we go enjoy the last bit of Mason's set and we can all go upstairs after to discuss anything and everything we need to know, how's that sound?" I look at Dad. "Yes, I think that would be best." Once dad confirmed it we all turned to walk back.
"Here" Ray handed me a light jersey. "What's this for?" I ask in confusion. "To cover the blood stains" she points at my dress.
Looking down, I have blood stains from carrying Maggie. "Thank you" I pull the jersey on and thankfully it covers all the stains.
Mason only played 2 more songs after we got back to our table. 'Layla? Anything about our powers you think I should know before I speak to our family?' 'Well... Maybe one thing. We can only feel the pain and experiences of other werewolves.' 'No. Wat about my family? They are all orphan children?' 'Yes Lina, they are all orphans you found in the human world, but they are not human.' Layla told me just as Mason's last song ended.
"Happy Birthday Lina." he said into the mic before putting his guitar down and jogging to me. I stand up to hug him. Could it really be. Could Mason really be a Werewolf. 'Lina. You can't tell him yet. Just like you, he didn't grow up in this world. You need to find your own footing first. When the time comes, they will need you Lina. Each in their own time, you will help guide them home.' Layla told me.
"That was amazing Mason." Ray says in a bit of a fan girl voice. I had to hold back a chuckle.
"Mason, this is Rachael, my sister and a really big fan of your music"
"Nice to meet you. Sorry we didn't get introduced properly before." Mason extends his hand with a big grin on his face and Ray giggles like a school girl.
"Mason, I was going to spend some time with everyone. I want to get to know as much as I can before we leave on sunday. Would you be ok on your own for a bit?" Mason as well as my family are all looking at me now. "I'll be fine Lina. I have to practice for tonight and I still have to move the entire setup inside, so I will have lots to keep me busy anyway." I give him a hug and point to the four men that helped us set up already standing by the equipment to help move it again. "At least you have a lot of help here. I will come find you later." I tell Mason before heading inside with my family.
"Wat do you mean before you leave on Sunday?" JJ asks as we walk to the top floor. "I have 3 months of senior year left and there is no way Jen and Frank will let me transfer schools so close to the end, besides I have to talk to them and my siblings first. I can't just disappear. They will want to meet you and I would love it if you all got to know each other a little." even with me explaining I can see the fear in JJ's eyes so I continue "I was hoping I could come here every weekend or at least every other weekend until I finish my exams. Or you could come visit me when you have time." that seemed to ease whatever fear JJ and I'm guessing the rest of my family are feeling.
"So we will still see you while you finish school?" Ray asks while taking my hand. "Of course you will still see me. This is my home now too, isn't it?" "Yes sweetheart, this is your home, we were just hoping you would stay here with us." Mom told me.
"As much as I want to stay here with all of you, I have to go back. I have a responsibility to finish school, a responsibility to my foster family, and according to Layla my foster siblings will all need me the same way I needed you at midnight." I said just as we all walk into the same sitting area as last night.
"Wait, are you saying that your foster siblings are werewolves as well?" Alek asks as we all grab a seat.
"According to Layla, I can only connect to other werewolves. That would mean all three of them should also be werewolves because that's how we all got adopted by the same family. I found all 3 of them the same way I found Mason. I practically refused to go home if Jen and Frank wouldn't bring them with, so they sorted out all the paperwork within days. I really didn't go home until the child I found could come home with me. It was like I just knew we had to be together. Now I understand it's because we all belong together, we all belong here."
"Then should we not bring them here, teach them before they turn 18?" JJ asks. "No. Layla said not to tell Mason, that he wasn't ready yet." I look down at my hands not sure what she means.
"Hunter will be 18 in 6 months. We both are finishing our senior year in 3 months. Maybe I can convince him to come spend summer here with me. That way we have 3 months to prepare him before his first shift and that should give him enough time to wrap his head around all of this." My voice is a bit shaky now.
"Lina?" Dad was now kneeling in front of me. He gently lifts my face by placing a finger under my chin. "Honey, are you struggling with everything we told you?" I swallow hard not wanting to disappoint him.
"It's just a lot happening all at once. Not only did I find my family, I also have to relearn things about life and things about myself. Then I find out not only am I a werewolf, the weird visions I've been having are actually powers. On top of everything, my foster siblings are also werewolves and I somehow have to introduce them into a world I know nothing about. It's a bit overwhelming."
Dad hugs me tight "Wat about this? We take it one question at a time. We can discuss what we need to know about your powers and deal with that first. We have nothing but time to learn the rest and to work through it together. You will not be doing any of this alone. We are all here to help you through it." I wrap my arms around him "Thank you"
