Vampire Detective

Chapter Four

Danial went home after the ordeal and, as always, sat at his kitchen table trying to possess the situation. But it was more than it seemed to him. Something else was bothering him and there seemed to be more to it. He decided to do more detective work and went back where the bodies were found to look for more clues. As he went through the grass he felt a presence Watching him.

"Alright! I know you're there! Come on out!" He said, with his gun drawn. The figure stepped out and he recognized her immediately.

"Jess?! What are you doing here?"

"I thought I'd do my own investigating." She replied. He smiled and shook his head.

"Well, since you're here why don't we do it together? There's no point in tryingto get you to go back home." He stated.

"I was thinking the same thing, detective."

As they looked around they didn't find much. Most of the evidence was collected earlier. But then Jess fell through the ground. He ran over and looked into the hole.

"Jess! Are you alright?!"

"Yeah. I'm okay." He jumped into the hole and helped her to her feet.

"Looks like a secret passage." He said, looking down a long dark tunnel.

"The plot thicknens." She replied, intrigued.

"Should we follow and see where it leads?" He asked, looking at her.

"After you, detective." She replied, motioning him to go ahead of her. They filollowed the tunnel for a few feet until they came upon a four way passage.

"Which way should we go?" She asked, peaking around one of the corners.

"I think it would be better to go straight. So we don'tlose our way." He replied.

"Lead the way."

They went down the long hallway and ended up at a wooden door.

"Hm. I think we're on to something." Stated Jess.

Danial went to open the door but it was locked.

"Jess? You think you can open this door?"

"Not a problem." She reached in her pocket and took out a small pocket knife. She then proceeded to pick the lock and, after a moment, the door swung open. Danial and Jess went inside the small room. There were filieling cabinets in the back of the room. They proceeded to look thorough the cabinets.

"These are documents of a family line. They go back thousands of years.'' Stated Jess, looking at one of the documents. She showed Danial the document she had in her hand.

"This is quite interesting." She added. They looked through more cabinets and even found birth certificates of those long dead.

"Why would these be here and not somewhere more safe?" Asked Danial, also looking at a document.

"It is very strange thar they would be here. This is getting deep.'' Added Jess. They looked through more documentations and discovered that it was a royal family of Vampires. Danial started to panic and tooknout his iron pills and took two.

"What are those for?"

"My heart. I have a hwart condition. These keep it in check."

As they were looking through more of the documents, Danial became more confused. And as he was about to figure out the reason he felt a knock on the head and was unconcious.
