The golden light exploded.
For a few seconds, Heaven couldn’t see anything.
She could hear Maya shouting, Dylan calling Sierra’s name, and Conrad telling everyone to stay together.
Then everything went silent.
Heaven opened her eyes.
She was standing in the same hallway.
But it wasn’t the same anymore.
The walls were covered in dark cracks that glowed faintly with golden light. The lockers were gone. The classroom doors had disappeared. Even the floor looked different, covered with strange symbols that seemed to move whenever she looked at them.
Conrad was beside her.
She immediately reached for his hand.
“You okay?”
