I heard them before I saw them. Rosa’s voice carried through the server station, bright and sharp. Mandy’s voice followed, softer, trying to keep the conversation small. I stood in the dish pit and listened anyway.
“So?” Rosa demanded. “Two matches? Two. Tell me everything,” Mandy hesitated.
“It’s nothing. Just chatting,”
“That is how it starts,” Rosa said. “Names,”
