✽ Jason ✽ I came home expecting Mandy to be at home. But the moment I unlocked the door and stepped inside, I knew she wasn’t home. It was quiet. Too quiet. A flicker of disappointment washed over me as I shut the door behind me. I looked around the empty apartment and spotted something on the fridge in the kitchen. I moved closer and saw that it was a sticky note. “Went out, be back before dinner – M,” I read aloud. I crumbled the note and let out a grunt of anger. Mandy had gone out. The truth was that Mandy wasn’t usually this vague. Fear had trained her to give details, especially to me. But this little note was careless. I checked the app on my phone and saw that Mandy was near the college district at a café. I didn’t need to wonder who she had gone to see. I knew already. Wesley
