The following morning, Kira woke up in the house smelling like gravy & biscuits, and coffee!!! She got dressed real quick and made her way down to the kitchen. Mama was finishing up making breakfast, so she grabbed a cup of coffee. Daddy walked through the back door, dusting off all the hay from handling the horses. “Sweet Pea, I’m going to need you to feed and get the eggs from the chickens and check the gardening for anything that needs to be pulled,” Daddy said while making his plate. “Not a problem, I told Blake I’d hang out with him later this evening since he is shipping off,” I said between bites. Mama and Daddy gave each other a hopeful look. “It’s not like that! He asked me to hang out before he left, that's all, nothing else.” telling my parents with stress in my voice. After breakfast, Kira grabbed her boots and headed out to the coop to gather the eggs. There had to be at least 20 or more eggs. She even noticed they had a few new hens as well. She made her way over to the garden and they could have everything you could want, from carrots to green beans, even too-hot peppers! Mama wasn’t playing when she said she was going to try straight cottage home living! After bringing everything into the house, Kira had to check the eggs to see if they had been fertilized. Daddy was big on breeding their animals to help with the cost. Out of all of the eggs, she gathered, six of them went into the incubator. She still had a while before having to meet up with Blake, so she headed back out to the barn area to check out all the animals and to give herself some serenity. As she made her way down the barn, she came across her old friend, Silver Moon. She was a beauty! Daddy got her for Kira when she turned 13 and wanted to take up riding lessons. Kira opened up the stall and saw how beautiful she still was. She saddled up her girl and took her out for a nice run. They ended up going down to the lake that was just right before the wooded area where Kira, Blake, and other kids used to build their tree houses and made a village when they were younger. The lake was huge with a little island in the middle of it. So many memories that she had there as a kid and teenager! After a while, she got back on Silver Moon and made her way back to the barn, and headed up to the house to start getting ready. *knock knock* Kira walked to the door where Blake was standing. Usually, if it was like in old times, he would have just walked right on in without even knocking. “Well, this is new. When did you start knocking?” I asked while laughing at the surprise. “After I walked in on your parents in the living room,” Blake said embarrassingly. “Ew, just the thought of them doing anything on the couch, I hope they sterilized it.” I gathered my things and walked to Blake’s truck. “So what are the plans for tonight?” I asked while putting my seatbelt on. “Figured we’d get a bite to eat, then head to Sugar Grove Ranch,” Blake said with a smirk on his face. Sugar Grove Ranch was the major hot spot when they were in high school to go paintballing. They didn’t use guns either; it was a straight water balloon filled with paint! They ended up stopping at the old diner on highway 27. They have the best root beer float and tenderloins! They finally made it to the ranch and the place was packed! The sign said Neon Glow night, that's new. Blake opened her door, helping her out. While she was getting ready for their war, he was purchasing their tickets and getting the passes for the balloons. Blake comes walking back. “you ready to get some kids?” Kira stared at him laughing. He has always been a big shot when it came to these games. He loved the fact she was his partner in these little wars. Between their throwing skills and daddy always showing her his military tactics, they were always winning against other players. After being there for hours, both of them were covered in neon paint and the place was closing, so they decided it was time to head out. Listening to the country station, and singing their hearts out is what kept them awake until they got home. They pulled up to her parent’s house and they could not stop laughing over how the painted war went. He walked her up to my door and they gave each other hugs. “You have my email address, let me know how you are okay?” I told Blake as he was turning around to head back to his truck. Next thing you know, he came running up, grabbed the back of Kira’s head, and planted a kiss on her lips. As she was getting ready to push him away she saw her hands were starting to spark, so she put them behind her back and stepped away from the kiss. “I’m sorry I had to have one last kiss, Kira,” Blake said without shame in his body. She told him it was fine and hurried into the house. She made her way up the stairs to her room and as she was getting ready to take a shower, she kept looking at her hands examining them, wondering what the heck was going on to get electrical impulses. She went and took a quick shower to get rid of the paint and headed to bed.
