"I have to go, Professor. I'll call you back later," I said hastily, my eyes never leaving Lucian's thunderous expression. The tension between us crackled like electricity as I ended the call.
"Who was that?" Lucian demanded, his voice dangerously low.
I straightened my spine, refusing to cower. "Just a friend."
"A male friend?" he pressed, taking a step closer. His jaw clenched, a muscle twitching at the corner. "Who exactly?"
The audacity of his jealousy after everything he'd done made my blood boil.
Jasmine's protective instincts surged within me, giving me courage.
"You've never bothered to participate in my life, Lucian," I replied coolly. "Even if I told you, you wouldn't know who I'm talking about."
