Allison's POV After the morning panic finally passed, I let myself crash for what was supposed to be a quick nap. Naturally, it turned into a full-blown emotional reboot. When I woke up, Lily was already bouncing off the walls. We had breakfast together—well, she had pancakes, and I had cold coffee and existential dread—and then spent an hour building a lopsided Lego castle that she proudly declared “earthquake-proof.” Honestly, it probably wasn't. Eventually, I convinced her to let Aunt Bella babysit for a bit so I could go “handle grown-up stuff”. Bella didn't ask questions. She's a saint like that. I pulled out of the driveway and headed toward the Paddington Senior Apartments near Willowbrook Center. My wolf, Jasmine, was unusually quiet, sensing my anxiety.
