I didn't give Lucian's words a second thought.
Once I drove away from that awkward parking lot confrontation, I promptly pushed our conversation out of my mind.
Monday morning arrived with its usual routine.
After dropping Lily off at Moon Garden Preschool, I drove to the Blackwood Institute for my first official day.
My wolf, Jasmine, was unusually quiet but contentedly settled within me, perhaps sensing my excitement about starting this new chapter.
Director Alonso had organized a small welcome gathering for me.
He was beaming as he introduced me to the team.
"Finally, headquarters sends us some fresh talent!" he announced to the assembled staff. "You young folks need to step up—us old-timers are afraid to retire until we have proper replacements!"
