"That wouldn't be appropriate," Bellingham replied with that same infuriatingly pleasant smile, though his tone made it clear he wouldn't back down. "Allison entrusted Lily to me, so naturally, I'll be the one taking care of her."
He reached out to take Lily back from me.
I shifted my body, keeping her firmly in my arms. "I am Allison's husband on the marriage certificate. There's no reason her daughter should be with someone else."
Bellingham's expression didn't falter. "Mr. Storm, if Allison had wanted you to accompany Lily, she would have called you first. She didn't, which clearly indicates her preference in this matter."
